Highlands 54 Conner 48

No chest pumping here!! Both schools look like they'll be stacked for a few years which makes for good basketball. I really like what I see coming from the freshman team & remember Hendricks is freshman that plays Varsity only & Gambrell plays JV & V also!! Speaking of Gambrell, she was injured in jv game so didn't play in Varsity & I really think Conner needed her tonight!! She is a strong ballhandler & could have cut through the trap press with ease. She doesn't panic or hesitate which was something Pluto & Scott seemed to do alot of tonight, which resulted in multiple turnovers!! I hope these 2 teams meet again this season so we are treated again to some awesome basketball!!

Agree about Gambrell that hurt for Conner tonight....maybe it will be the Regional final when they meet again.

Everyone can say why they'd like to play again. I bet HHS fans would have loved to seen a game where they didn't shoot 26% and, like Conner, had all their weapons available. Again, we also had a key sub missing tonight. We can all say should of and could of, but the facts are, and I wasn't going to say this, but HHS played a very poor game tonight for 3 qtrs and still came out with the victory at Conner. Their shooting was etrociuous tonight and they are a good shooting team. And Daley, uncharacteristic, only had 5 points. So, yes, we'd like to play again too!

Yes i was there sitting right in the middle of the HHS section, just a few feet from your brother! And those aren't my stats! Those are the unofficial stats (which just means they haven't watched the films to confirm) that came from the guy that keeps the HHS book! Didn't make them up. I wouldn't post something I made up or did myself. I'm too into the game to try and keep stats.

Come on you think there was 21 uncontested layups an you post it get real . I need to get the water you all are drinking ,maybe that's why I see the Forrest before the trees

5-36 from floor first half. Not sure what was contested but if math serves me right thats about 14%.

I think your Ft Thomas education is failing you. I'd like for you to show me where I said "uncontested layups". I'm telling you that is a stat that the HHS team looks at and measures during the game. I have no idea what the criteria is for a missed layup is, but I can tell you that according to their sheet, they missed 21 layups in the game. I don't think they just keep that so I can post it on here. It was a stat that jumped out at me. They keep it for every game and this one was unusually high. Maybe they just fudged the numbers before I saw them to make for a good story on BGP! That's it, you caught us!

I would ask if you were there, but I think everyone saw you! But if you didn't see an unusual amount of missed layups for a varsity girls game, I'd have to say you were looking through some wierd glasses.

I agree having Gambrell would have helped for sure, IMO when Pluto was on the floor they handled the press. Conner was up 14 went Pluto got her fourth in the 3rd and then I think Scott became the primary ball handler and took her out of her regular scoring position. There were a lot of turnovers when Pluto was on the bench. I think if Pluto did not get her fourth Conner may have handled the pressure a little better and having Gambrell to fill in that role would have helped for sure. Great game and congratulations to Highlands on a good win.

Good defense by Conner unforced turnovers by Conner lost this game keep the excuses coming because who was at the game knows the truth

and the truth is..........a 6 point loss at home. Conner plays well for 3 quarters and Highlands plays good for 1 quarter and wins by 6. So if Highlands plays well for 3 quarters then that means they would have won by 18? lol

Birds don't need excuses. The Birds played poorly and we won on Conner's floor. No excuses. Just getting the "wait til next time vibe" from the Conner fans. I think our girls would hope there is a next time too, is all I'm saying.

The things you're calling excuses are the numbers that someone asked for...from the book!

Unforced turnovers by Conner? Were you there? Could have sworn I saw the ball sail out of bounds and into the hands of several bluebirds when they started trapping. I'd really like to hear your definition of a forced vs. unforced turnover.

I agree with you....not sure i would want to play Highlands again on a neutral floor with what I seen tonight. The defense will be there for sure but the 23% shooting will be better next time.

I think I will stay out of this thread too, can't wait for the Tourney!

If you were there and you don't know what an unforced turnover is then you shouldn't be posting on this thread...I think highlands girls and coaches are great but you parents are crazy

My game notes:

Love Coach Stamm; down 16-12 in the 2nd and HHS on a run, he sits chili, no timeout and his team goes on a 11 point run and forces HHS to call the TO.

MM is really good for Conner, strong post player and lots of tenacity. Not sure why she didn't start the 2nd half??

Conner needs to think pass to beat the press vs. dribble.

The 1-2-2 half court press offense is something Conner needs to practice over and over again during the next couple of mos. That was their achilles tonight. The HHS pressure was tremendous and Conner will need to solve this in order to make a trip to BG.

The Maines technical was key in this game. Need to keep composure during times of adversity.

JS needs to shorten up her passes. I saw 3 throw aways on long pass attempts.

Hope to see a rematch in March. Two good teams with a ton of talent on the floor.
