The Dixie/Brandon Hatton Conundrum

I think a lot of people overrated Dixies soph class ability to make the jump to varsity and be really good this season.

Spot on.

What parents have complained??? Again, unless you have proof that parents have complained to Ken and that Ken is listening to them (which I can't ever imagine he would do), then STOP spreading a rumor. I am a parent of one of the Sophs on that team and I am unaware of any parents complaining.

Are you aware of a directive that Brandon should shoot less?

Spot on.

I doubt that "a lot of people" expected Dixie to realistically be able to compete for a regional title this year with so many Sophs on the team (there are only 2 JRs and 2 SRs who play significant minutes). However, that does not negate the fact that Dixie has the best Sophomore class in NKY. Playing against upperclassmen all year will only make them that much better next season.

Shoot less? No. Don't force shots when being double and triple teamed? Yes.

Agreed on next season.

He took 9 shots last night. He usually takes 15 to 20. What % of those 15 to 20 do you think are "forced?"

I have seen BH hit shots against double and triple teams so IMO unless he is coming down the floor consistently jacking up stupid shots then let him do his thing.

Why did he sit the entire 4th qtr last night? Chevy sending a message or game just out of hand and giving the other kids minutes?

IDK, I was not there.

I love having BH on our team. He is a great kid and great basketball player. Like I said earlier, I have no problem with him averaging 30 a game. He is a stud and should be treated as such. I do feel he sometimes puts too much pressure on himself, thinking he has to do it all.

I have no idea. I did hear that Ken eventually cleared the bench.

I have only watched Dixie 3 times this year. Other than Daria I don't see any other kids that want to step up offensively.

I've also thought that Brandon has been good at not forcing for much of the game but due to no one stepping up he does take over late.

Dixie may have a deep soph class but they do not have a player you worry about offensively yet.

You might want to actually read the post before saying that I am spreading a rumor. My post was more directed at how things work in todays world of high school sports and not specific to Dixie. You can go 5 miles down Dixie Hwy and hear many of the same thoughts.

I can't speak directly to the Dixie situation but if you don't believe this occurs at most schools with a similar type situation then that is one of those ostrich with his head in the sand moments.

I was sitting court side last night taking pictures and distinctly remember BH standing in the back court late in the third quarter waiting on the inbounds pass and saying "He doesn't want me shooting, so I won't." The ball was inbounded to BH and he just smacked it back to the guy inbounding, who brought it up the court. I remember thinking to myself, "well that was strange..." Until I noticed he didn't play any of the fourth and wasn't playing like he was against Montgomery County the night before. Odd.

To whom did he say this?

Makes me wonder who 'He' is. Could be anybody.
