You are probably right. I would say Dixon is second only to Hammonds in wins and regional titles in the 14th. Meehan hasn't been a head coach as long as Dixon or Combs. I would guesstimate that Combs would probably be third in wins among active coaches, and Meehan fourth. Not for sure.

Was Steve a co-coach with his dad for a couple of years before he retired? I would say he might have 11 years in too. Meehan was helping Combs (Hazard) in 1997, he got the KCC job in 1998, so that would only be 8 years for him as a head coach. I think the rest are right.

Going by past results, Hammonds is the best....by far. Trip to the final four is a great accomplishment. Dixon comes in 2nd to him....which is probably a complement to him....i'm sure he olds Coach Hammonds in high esteem....as should all coaches over there....In my opinion. After all Perry CO had 2 pitchers drafted......how did they do in pro ball anyway?

They actually had 3. The Little Twins and Roy Wells. Wells had a more productive career. Arm troubles slowed him down. I agree though that Coach Dixon is a very good coach. He wasn't supposed to win the region last season and look what he got out of his team.

Steve Melton was an assistant at Perry Central one year (1st year of PCC) and then went to Cordia.

IMO Combs from Lee Co. is great coach. Who has formed great teams

year in and year out.

 

A up and rising coach in the 14th region this year is Burch from Owsley

remember that name!

The next really good coach in the 14th will Be Varney at Powell. Very studious and has been a key member of the Hazard coaching staff.

I would agree with that. He knows the game very well and has some great experience sitting in the dugout with Meehan and staff. I look for Powell to continue to win and maybe even win a region in short time.
