Congrats on the victory. Very nice win for the birds. I really expected the Camels to win this one. Maybe the birds are turning it around and will play well down the stretch when it really counts. Good luck to both teams.

IMO he needs to step up and play a bigger role, he is more than capable. I was beginning to believe it was in the name (lol). If JOAT, Stinky and Q are happy I missed a good one and used the hall pass on the wrong game ! Keep it up Birds.

Nice win for Highlands and have to admit I am a little surprised as I thought Campbell county would have too much with McGovney back. It's why I love HS basketball on any given night!!

Finally. HHS plays 4 qtrs of bball to get a win against a good opponent. I say good opponent because I was up on the hill last Saturday and watched the Camels battle NCC to a 2 possession game.

Had it not been for the pure dominance of Drew M., the Camels would have pulled off the upset.

 

Campbell has as good a 1-2 punch as any team in N Ky. McGovney has been doing it for years and his game speaks for itself. The kid that gets less attention, but is one heckuva player is Holbrook. I have seen him twice now, and I am very impressed. He is slight in stature and build but is a natural scorer. He shoots the ball extremely well and takes it to the rack hard. Without first seeing the box score, I figured this 1-2 punch had 80% of the points and that would be about right (actually 75%). Jackson was a non-factor in the game. I thought he did some really good things when I saw the NCC game and was expecting him to be a bad matchup for HHS. His minutes were limited - best guess, lack of defensive effort.

 

 

Great games by Luke Turner and Bailey Witte. Strong with the ball and played very well defensively. Shot free throws well at the end of the game to keep the Camels at bay. The same effort will be needed to make it back-to-back victories Saturday against Boone.

This was horrible defensive game for Campbell County. This may be one of the worst defensive teams I have seen at Campbell since Coach Russell has been there. Holbrook, N. McGovney, and T. McGovney are in your face defenders but the rest of the team is really lacking. J. Franzen is normally a lock down defender but something has not been working for him this season. When he plays tough defense he plays over aggressively and gets in to foul trouble and then the next game he overcompensates. I really like this kid but he just needs to take a deep breath and let the game come to him. The Camels are a team that likes to score in transition but cannot when the defense is so bad. Hopefully these boys step up and finish out this season on a strong note. I know Coach Russell is a great coach but these boys need to come to play. I believe Trent McGovney may have had more rebounds last night than any other Camels player. Congrats on a great performance by him. Looks like Coach Russell is getting more confident with playing him in big time situations.

Can someone from Campbell Co. tell me....who in the hell was the new kid on the JV team? HOLY COW, maybe 6'7" and a good 325 lbs. Heard something about he transferred in from Cincinnati and just be came eligible? Does this kid play football, he was a load.

 

 

Actually the CC parents are asking the same thing. He did transfer to CC a few months ago was waiting for grades and physicial. Comes to 1 practice and then plays the next day.

I thought he was limited on what he could do in the paint, very raw and maybe too late for him at this stage. However, it depends if he wants to play hoops and work on his game. I would guess he will be out on the football field and will be a very very large kid to block. I would put him on the Defensive line and dare teams to run to him.

Great win for the Birds.. I know this season has been tough on some and wins like this help ease the pain a bit.

 

Glad to see some of the kids playing with a little more heart than they did against the Blueboys the other nite.

I guess my daughters butt chewing of one of the HHS players might have helped him have a better showing.

Maybe she should give the whole team a pep talk before their next big game. LOL
