January 12, 201313 yr Scalia: 2nd Amendment says “bear arms.” Cannon? Probably not. Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher? Probably yes. « NMissCommentor
January 12, 201313 yr So why so much outrage over voter ID laws? I'll put on my liberal hat and put forth a theory. Do the ends justify the means? In the case of voter ID laws; the end was admittedly (in PA, anyway, which was the state I was yammering on about at the time) to rig a Presidential election. And the outrage had more to do with timing - and the opportunity for compliance by Election Day - than the actual requirements of the law. My limited understanding is that it was on that basis that the law was struck down. In the current case, the end is reducing the wholesale slaughter of human beings. Liberal hat off - back to middle-of-the-road papa.
January 12, 201313 yr You do realize Justice Scalia said the M16(Full Auto version of AR-15) should be available to the "militia" which he defined as us, right? ANYTHING hand held should be ours. You people simply do not understand that. What you people simply do not realize is that legal possession of weapons and types of weapons is not the issue.

You people simply do not understand that. Are crimes being committed by legal owners of full-auto machine guns? No!

January 12, 201313 yr IMO I don't care what kind of gun you have, as long as you don't have a violent history and do not belong currently/or on the path to going to Western State. I'm all for doing more background checks/mental health checks, but I don't think taking guns away from those who met such requirements is the answer. If you want to kill someone, you could use a .38 or AR-15, doesn't really matter.
January 12, 201313 yr Another crazy is hell-bent on killing a bunch of kids at a school. Your kid attends that school. The shooter arrives at the school and strolls in unnoticed.. Question for the anti-gun folks: Would you rather have your kid protected by the Feinstein/Biden plan or the NRA plan??

January 12, 201313 yr Thank you for being honest. The problem I have with the folks proposing legislation is that they don't know if what they propose will work either (actually, they probably have a good inclination that what they are proposing won't work, but in the knee jerk, emotional climate present after every tragic incident, they feel that they have to do something, even if it won't work). What? Knee jerk reaction? Our Congress? Go on. God forbid that these elected officials be proactive to come up w a logical comprise, and not rush to put something patchwork together to meet a deadline or the approval of public opinion.

Question for the anti-gun folks: Would you rather have your kid protected by the Feinstein/Biden plan or the NRA plan?? I do not want my kids going to schools with armored guards. I think if this becomes the norm, then the end is truly near. Some questions that need to be answered before I make a call; A) How does Crazy obtain the guns? B) What kind of security does the school have? (Because these people do not stroll in unnoticed).
January 12, 201313 yr I might could agree if we didn't have proof that it does not work. We have proof that some combination of all the things I mentioned in post 13 does not work? If so, please provide a link.
January 12, 201313 yr If this has already been addressed, my apologies. When my dad was a police officer it seemed like he was always required to be certified. I remember him often having to go to the range. For those that say teachers should be allowed to be armed do you advocate them going through the same shooting training as police officers?
January 12, 201313 yr Well if they are armed then I would say yes. Officers have to qualify (yearly I think), teachers could have an in-service day at the range once a tear for those wishing to conceal carry at work. I am not saying every teacher or administrator should be forced to carry a firearm, but those wishing to should be allowed to.
