Sooooo...what do you think about women who DON'T choose firearms as a manner of self-protection?

Unprepared but best of luck.

I have no problem, nor think badly of anyone who does own a gun. I just don't think it's necessary, or particularly laudable that some choose to. There are other methods to protect oneself. And those are what I choose. I've managed to survive and actually safely raise two kids. Not saying you mean it this way, but when I hear/read comments like you posted, the implication is that someone like me is irresponsible.

Blow darts at a gun fight?

I am firm in my belief that gun ownership is a right, but that choosing to educate yourself and use other methods of self-protection is every bit as sensible and laudable. I do not agree that the average citizen needs a gun to protect themselves. I absolutely feel it needs to be harder to acquire firearms, especially the semi-automatic and automatic type. I don't agree that carrying a firearm should be allowed indiscriminately. And I believe that there should be consequences with "teeth" for irresponsible gun owners. Make fun, but it's not unreasonable.

Now, I am moving on. I, like Qryche, am looking for positivity in my life. These discussions pretty much tick me off because of many reasons. I'll continue my efforts for what I believe in a more productive manner.

^ Well, some of what you said I have zero problem with and some I have a problem with. But, if you want to move on, then there is no point to post where we differ.

I don't believe the average citizen needs a dog to protect themselves. You think rockmom believes the government should make it harder to acquire them?

My wife just completed classes and now has a permit to carry. She chose the S&W 38 special. My one sister in law is in the process.

Bottom line is everyone gets to choose how they want to protect their home and family. I choose Ruger P345(45 cal) for me.My neighbor chooses a Louisville Slugger to protect his home, he is not a gun owner. My other neighbor has three dogs that are "yappers", but all three wouldn't stop home invaders from entering their home, but they would let you know somethings going on.

I am the same. Counld be a .45, .357, 9mm, .380, or 00buck. Personally, I prefer the 00 buck for home defense.

I have #4buck in one in the bedroom. Plus my youngster is armed in the second story with his own 20ga with #4 buck. It'd be tough to make it past him to get to me. He's armed and stealthy from an elevated position over the great room.

Not going to count on the dogs for protection. We have two. To that I say, nick nack paddy wack give the dog a bone. Which if someone is casing your home and knows you have a dog is what they will do. Have you not seen the insurance commercials with mayhem?

I prefer to use my second ammendment rights. I have not always felt this way, but now more than ever because I see a president that thinks he can use an Executive order to over trump the Constitution. I will take my guns and protect them and use them if I need to.

Oh, and the whole family now has a CCL.
