January 2, 201313 yr I'd like to improve both my snatch and clean. The cleans are getting better but really struggle with my snatch. I can't overhead squat anything more then about 30lbs so my snatch is limited to what ever I can power snatch. I'm working on my flexibility but it's slow going. I feel your pain.
January 2, 201313 yr To me it just helps regulate your breathing in all aspect of fitness. I will say if you have never had any formal swim instruction, you need to do so before taking up swimming so that you are doing it remotely correct and not wasting energy. I should say that my swimming is going as fast as I can for one to four lengths and taking breaks accordingly. I don't thrash the water, but I'm not Michael Phelps either. I look like a fat white guy trying to swim fast. Not a great look.

January 2, 201313 yr Took a mini layoff from running. My "official program" doesn't start for another week or two. Googling around I found this little interval run. Just completed it...challenging, but not too bad http://carrotsncake.com/2012/02/5k-treadmill-challenge-6-x-400m.html
January 3, 201313 yr I'm fairly certain there are a lot of instruction opportunities in NKY. I'd highly recommend it. My wife is going to join an adult swim team out at NKU. I'm not into it like that. I'm lucky I can work out, I certainly don't have the time to join a club.
January 4, 201313 yr Any one have any suggestions for a good jump rope? I had a leather one a while back but it got pretty worn out. They've got one at my gym that I've been using but it's one that with each turn of the rope it starts to coil and tangle so after about 30 seconds it's tangled and I'm tripping over the rope. I feel like jumping rope in between core and legs is awesome for both the legs and core. So with that said does any one have any suggestions?
January 4, 201313 yr Also on a side note I downloaded the Rocky soundtrack from Itunes this morning before the gym yea I thought I saw gonna pass out doing squats in front of a mirror but Rocky just wouldn't let me quit.

I'll try to remember on Tuesday to look and see the brand.
January 4, 201313 yr Signed up for a swim meet tomorrow. Should be interesting. I'm doing 50 free, 100 free, 50 breast, 50 back, and 100 IM. My goal is to beat AT LEAST one person in my age group. Not being comfortable with flip turns is a huge detriment to my times. Something I need to fix soon.

I have a rubber speed rope from Meijer, it might even be Body by Jake. Hurts like hell if you miss, but it swings truer than the lighter speed ropes.

I will be at my daughter's swim meet all day, packed in like sardines at Scott HS.

Not kidding I've been complimented on my jump roping ability a few times at the gym, I just want something that won't tangle easily and has good speed. That Rocky music really got me in the mood for some jump rope this morning. I almost ran through the streets of Independence as well but I didn't think it would carry quite the same effect as the streets of Philadelphia.

Their are two others I can't think of right now that are nice but pricey. When I get home I'll look them up and post. are you doing single or double unders?
