Let me be clear on my previous comment.

 

In NO WAY am I placing ANY blame for the gash on the Brossart player. He wore his mask that the officials said he could wear.

I saw a picture of the gash in Luke Turner's head that came as a result of hitting the bottom of a BB player's mask. Yikes.

 

Officials need to take a long hard look at that mask. If it doesn't fit properly and has that potential then the mask needs to be removed.

Wow... this should send the Birds back down to earth. When I saw Brossart play Iroquois in the classic over at Newport recently, I thought that they were a well-oiled machine and very impressive, but I really didn't see this sort of spanking coming... Wow...

I'd argue that the gash shows there were protrusions.

I was very impressed with Highlands JV and happy to see them hang on to win. The Varsity game was hard to watch. Brossart looked great as they usually do. Their basketball is to them as our football is to us. I can't get over how great BBHS played together. They had seamless substitutions and never missed a beat regardless of who was in. Saunders is sick. That boy is big and aggressive. They got a ton of height and every kid on their team has a fire that our boys didn't seem to have, with the exception of Buten #3. That kid is all heart.

 

I do have to say that I'm pretty disappointed in the fans and administration of Brossart. Their fans displayed every single version of poor sportsmanship that someone could do and it seemed like the school supported it. I found myself struggling to explain why they did all those things to my twin 9 year olds who are young basketball players and didn't get it. Shame on you Brossart Admin. and your ridiculous fans! Congrats to coach Code and the great basketball players.

I can tell you for a fact that it was molded specifically for his face. We were told that Luke caught the Brossart players teeth and not his mask. Of course this is what we were told. Not sure if it is in fact true.

I can't say as I heard that much from our fans. Unless you are talking about the students. I was disappointed in the Nuts and bolts cheer but that was about it. I was near mid court so I may have missed some things. I also had to elbow my father a few times but, he is rather old and has never met a referee that he has liked. And that includes a good friend of mine who is a ref (and that only goes for when he is on the court.)

Brossart student section was fine except i can do without the front row screaming in the players ears every time they were in that corner of the court. I know they are trying to distract the player from getting a shot off but yeah its kind of unsportsmanlike. Student sections are definitely more fun when the other team has one. I do feel sorry for whoever has to clean up all the flour they were throwing around up there. Was it cook the birds night or bake cake? I couldn't figure out which one.

Burns mask is fine. Molds to his face and nothing sticking out. Hope Luke is feeling ok today. Don't worry; chicks dig scars!

The team plays well together.

 

This was one of the things that stood out most to me when I saw them play. They play very fundamental basketball and work well together. AND they have some really good talent across the board at ALL positions AND they have serious, serious size. They are VERY strong in a half-court game. Them vs Cooper and NCC would be fun to see. I wonder how they would look against a team like Holmes though? Either way, they are very strong.
