Scott Co. is a good pick, I'd say Scott Co. and John Hardin

Great point on Scott County, the only game that doesn't figure for them was the blowout in Fort Thomas.

 

It was a blowout, but it was also one of those games. They couldn't stop Highlands offensively, but they also shot themselves in the foot w/ turnovers. Once of them was a fumble on a 70 yard run where the RB was caught from behind at the 5 yd. line (great hustle play by Highlands) and another two were forced passes that were intercepted on Highlands side of the field and gave the Birds tremendous field position. The QB was only in his second game, I believe, as the starter. I figured that they would get much better as he improved. Obviously they did.

There were a couple plays that didn't go their way, but a couple other things to remember. It was HHS' QB's second game as a starter as well. No matter how you spin it, I don't think SC had a first down in the first half! They scored on a kick off return (because HHS kicked off about 5 times in the first half) and a blown coverage play on a 5 and out where no one was within 20 yds of the receiver because we didn't cover him! SC also scored with under a minute to go against our third string on a 50 yd pass. So you can say what you want, but let's not forget the other side of the story.

If we are throwing Cov Cath in the mix, then I must throw Warren Central in as well. I'm of the belief that the Dragons are better than John Hardin.

 

Before the BG game I thought that Warren Central and John Hardin were two evenly matched teams. Not sure I agree with you now after what I saw. BG fans could best answer this question on who they think is the better team.

Overall strength then you guys are probably right. If it is relative to each class, I think Somerset (2A) and Monroe County (3A) deserve some consideration.

Nothing against Scott Co. for certain. Trinity played their worst game against them and without a key player. And, when Trinity had to have it....they simply took it at will. Highlands beat them easily.

 

I think this years BG team is a little down from prior years, now that means they are still darn good. Cov Cath performed very good against Highlands twice and beat a very good Johnson Central team with ease.

JH had the perfect storm for the BG game. BG played extremely tough games against talented teams in Christian and WC. JH is playing a beer league softball game against N Bullitt, Grayson, and Jtown. Do you think JH would have come out winning 3 straight against Christian, Warren Central, and BG? Those would be 3 tough grinds for the Bulldogs. They essentially had to get "up" for 1 game in the playoffs on their homefield. I think WC was better although the actual score doesn't indicate that.

It's not JH's fault who's in their district/region, but it is a fact those teams are nowhere near the level of BG, WC, and CC.

 

JH may have made it through Christian and WC, but would they have had enough left in the tank to beat BG? Imagine having to play the same emotional and physical game for 3 consecutive weeks that John Hardin played against BG. That's what BG just did. Christian Co. had to do it in 2010 and had absolutely nothing left in the tank for an outstanding Highlands team.

You're right they could have been within 7pts...but only for a couple minutes. Even if you give them that TD, it was never really even close. And we haven't even discussed the "what if's" for HHS. HHS won by 3 scores with their backups playing most of the second half!

Friday night proved that it sure isn't Lex Catholic! I give the nod to X.

John Hardin out played BG & also had a very questionable failed 2 points. that looked sucessful. I won't even go into the hook & ladder BG pulled off to win the game. Not trying to stur BG fans up but JH should have won this game. So JH was the best team not to make the playoffs
