Not Really a fair question at all, just people stirring the pot. I would not intentionally take anything away from Cooper's great season. But lets be real, would they have beaten Conner have they got another shot? Would they have beaten SK or NCC? And I believe they certainly wouldn't have beaten Cov or Highlands. Cooper has had an excellent and I will be rooting for them.

Nothing against those teams you mentioned, they have all had great seasons this year, but myu answer would be yes. Especially a great team like NCC who Cooper did play in their scrimmage before the season started and beat them 48-7.

 

With that said I still say to the question in the title thread, I could care less. Paper Champions are worth the paper they are written on so all I care about is the team doing their best to win Saturday against a team they actually will be playing against.

HHS may very well win but it is the totally arrogant attitude as shown above that will make me laugh my spleen out if Collins can do it.

 

Collins lost to Bryan Station who went out in the first round of the 6A playoffs against SK. HHS is a prohibitive favorite in this game.

This discussion took place earlier this year. Cooper does not need to call HHS to schedule any games. Look at the number of seniors on Cooper. When these young men graduate Cooper will take a huge step backwards. Their JV was not very good this year and the frosh about the same. Cooper will struggle next year without the likes of Morris and the gang. They may compete with the teams on the current schedule, but not HHS.

Actually the Freshman team wasn't that bad, they lost to 3 teams, and 2 of those teams went undefeated in the regular season (Ryle and Beechwood)

 

Now you are right about 1 thing, Cooper loses a lot of seniors this year, i think it's like 16. They will take a step backwards next year. With that said there are also some Juniors on this team that have contributed a lot both as sophomores and juniors so they will have the skill players at least on offense next year to at least put up some points.

 

The big question for next year will actually be the same question this team had going into this year and that is how good will the O-Line and D-Lines be next year? That will be the biggest loss they face, losing Neumann, Mitchell, Shelton and especially Centers will be huge losses after this season.

 

I wouldn't say they will take a huge step backwards, but they will probably take a step backwards.

We will see though, that is why they play the game.

It is indeed a fair question as the premise is that they beat a team that many consider to be top 2 to 4 in the entire state.

 

I agree, though, with Hellbird that Cooper fans could really care less if it means they have a state championship trophy to put in their trophy case. I'd say "call me #2 to Highlands but call me 5A state champ."

 

Couldn't agree more that it's a fair question! It's actually a nice debate! I just think some feel it's a "stir the pot" question because of the original poster! And honestly, I'm a die hard HHS guy, but could really care less who is a perceived number one in NKY. If teams are looking to be number one in NKY, football in NKY is in a sad place! Extend your aspirations!!!

I am beginning to believe if any school went and played the New York Giants and beat them, CCH fans would still say they would only be #3 behind CCH

IMO ... if there is an end of season ranking following the title games this weekend, Cooper is #2 in N. Ky. and it doesn't matter what happens in their title game. That sounds like a good thread for after this weekend.

I'm more interested in seeing if all the hype about BG is for real this time.

Was it not real last year? BG is good this year and has a chance to be 15-0 again. They will return 18 starters for 2013....maybe the hype will be real in 2013.

All I know is I'm glad #72 graduated last year.....he was a beast!

Ask the 20n10 Highlands team what ring fits best the State Championship one or the NKAC one...

They could absolutely care less about the latter. And even know they finished 2nd in NKY that yr unless you are Conner fan and a Highlands fan not a whole lot of people will every remember who finished 1st in NKY that yr but everyone will remember who won the State Championships that yr.

 

Maybe somebody should start making and handing out the proverbial "Banquet Win Bowl" ring that so many on here would love to see handed out for winning games that really dont count for nothing but braggin rights on threads like this:clap:
