Birds 61 Lex Cath and the refs 28.

Let's just say I was very dissappointed with not only the refs but with how dirty the Lex Cath players were as well as their fan base......Screaming over at our side like children with each score. I will say one thing, I've never seen a more animated Bluebird fan base as I witnessed tonight and I enjoyed it thoroughly. As for Lex. Cath: I've lost all respect.

The main factor was no stops all night for LexCath defense. Did a good job of getting stops on 1st and 2nd down to create 3rd and long a few times but did close the deal to force the punt or stop on 4th. I do not think that HHS punted all night and I know they had over 600 yards total offense. Also, only 1 turnover that was trade back for the interception the play before. I believe those were the only turnovers the whole game.

 

Even without Bolin or Kumengisa (injury from last week) the Knights managed 28 points. No bad at all. But not good enough.

 

The lines for HHS did great on both sides of the ball and McCoy did great was was effective both on the ground in the air. The rollout play seemed to work every time. I do not think we put a assigned LB on him and played the normal defense. And that did not seem effective with his threat as a runner.

Just one example.. since we were on the home team side, great vantage point...one of last plays, HHS #9 coming thru backfield met up with #70 LC's fist. Literally. #70 turned and leveled a serious punch..right in front of a ref. No way to miss it, none... Flag? nope... cheap shots by LC and no flags... you know going into any game, stuff is going to get missed, but when you are less than 4 feet away from behavior like that? Weren't any other players around either, totally out in the open.. they all need to go back to referee school.

Every Bird fan in the stands lost their voices with their displeasure of the one sidedness of this game. None directed at Lex Cath fans. Only the three stooges they called refs. I felt sorry for the Bluebird players as their frustration with the dirty play of Lex Cath had boiled over a couple of times. It was a disgrace. You can only kick a dog so many times before he bites you. With each bite it cost the Birds 15!!!!!!

LOL! I know I lost mine especially on the "questionable block above the shoulders" towards #9 for HHS. That was a thing of beauty there. I'm pretty sure some pics were taken of the HHS fans expressing their displeasure from some LC photographers. I'm guessing they might even make a yea rend highlight tape for LexCath. LOL! Please send me a copy if anyone from down there is reading this.

I have already put input this thread. But I have a personal policy of not bantering about individual players in a negative light. That could go on in any game and any time.

Very interesting game. Must say, I was captivated to say the least. Alot going on in this game. Don't like to talk about refs , but WOW that was interesting. Even the Lex. Cath. fans, if they were being honest, would have to admit that there were some very, very questionable calls.

 

 

But I guess it makes the win all that much better. Highlands beat Lex. Cath. and their 12th man.

I agree. I hate when threads deteriorate into bad official/sportsmanship rants, and this one has started early. I wasn't able to go to the game and just want to know who played well and who did the scoring. Anything else is irrelevant to the thread.

 

I disagree, the refs and cheapshots are part of the game and us fans would like to know about what happened. This site would be like a newspaper if all we taller about erre the game summaries.

Sounds like I missed some great bantering up in the stands amongst the fans.

And the beat goes on in Ft. Thomas. Congrats Birds.

The LC Alum and former coaches like Bob Sphire have got to be a little concerned with the way the young men of Lexington Catholic handled themselves last nite...

Players actions are direct results of their head coaches and even know I realize we are talking about teenage boys lets not forget we are also talking about grown men leading and teaching our young sons to respect the game and its opponents and play the game with integrity and represent your school and program.

Highlands offense is just plain sick, not a whole lot to say. This was not the same offense that played against CovCath last week that is for sure. But then again, LC is not even in CovCath league, plain and simple imo.

 

Donnovan McCoy is a legit HS QB that gets better with every new game, the kid may be one of the best decision makers I have ever seen at Highlands to play QB, no disrepect to PT or others, but DMC makes up for the lack of big gun strenght with his legs and smarts.

He has learned to throw the football to spots on the field which is scary if you are a fan, but as long as he knows where it is going and his receiver does who cares.

He is playing the QB position like a college kid right now, he gets it. Defensively, somebody better get a handle on Joey Cochran, my lord, that boy lays the wood like no other and his speed is the same from the opening kickoff to the last play of the game.

He is entertaining to say the least.

I heard Cochran lit a kid up and the kid tried to retaliate and go after him after peeling himself up off the field. What kind of crap is that? It is football, you are going to get stuck.
