A school can take students from anywhere they want. But, for the ADA money to follow the student, both schools have to agree. That is probably what you are talking about.
So if they take them and the money doesn't follow they would have to pay tuition? Is tuition mandatory or can a school just decide to let them come without paying?

For this topic to be such a non-issue(and at one point I think I was called a "cry baby" lol) it sure is generating a lot of discussion ! My opinion remain,s let the public schools play public schools and let these teams play each other, even if it means they have to travel more to find like programs.

Tedious thread.

Tuition is up to the school. They do not have to charge tuition, but they can if they want.

In the Fivco Area (Greenup County, Boyd County, Lawrence County, Carter County, and Elliot County) all schools have open enrollment and have agreements for the ADA money to follow them and none of the schools charge tuition.

This affects the following schools: Greenup County, Raceland, Russell, Boyd County, Fairview, Ashland, East Carter, West Carter, Lawrence County, and Elliot County.

Most of the time if there is an ADA agreement, there is no tuition. If there is not an ADA agreement, there is tuition. I have noticed a lot of ADA agreements in my area have gone away in recent years.

To add to this, Public schools also cannot, by law, offer tuition assistance, work study programs, and financial aid to help kids pay for tuition.

I am far from being a Tea Bagger but if it was up to me ALL public schools would be required to charge tuition to help allieviate the burden on tax payers . This tuition would be based on the amount of income that the parents of the students have and their ability to pay . Everyone would pay .Some maybe a minimum .But there would be No freeloaders and no exceptions .

Ah, we do that now, it's called "school taxes".

This is a "state" rule, not local.

Wrong.

Ah, we do that now, it's called "school taxes".

Property owners are the one's paying the taxes, not the general population.

Yea, but he said, "Everyone".

And you dont think those taxes are passed on to renters? The general population does indeed pay school taxes.

Not in a way that is equitable. There are many subcultures that have no problem outting 20 people in an apartment.

That's kinda what I was thinking..... ....!
