Cooper is having a great year but they have not proved anything yet. No playoff wins in school history and they have beaten a bunch of bad 6A teams. Who have they beaten that is any good? South Oldham? Go deep in the playoffs and sustain some success on a yearly basis and i will be a believer.

I didn't know we can't talk about Cooper until the year 2025 because they are a new school.

If we are simply talking about history, then I guess there isn't a single school outside of HHS and BW that should even be mentioned in this thread.

 

If we are simply talking about the overall classes this year in NKY then yes, 6A is horrible, 1A, 2A 3A is down but 4A and 5A actually have 2 good teams each yet the overall of all classes NKY is pretty weak this year.

Unlike Cov. Cath, Lex Cath, and Boyle who have all played strong schedules, I think Warren East is a bit of an unknown because of their schedule and Lone Oak as well.

Won games in the state finals...sure. But you act as it was a dominant outing. Boyle squeaked by Lone oak in '09 and squeaked by ACS in '10. While the Highlands score wasn't competitive at the end, it's not like they ran the clock on FS in '11.

42-14 is pretty dominate to me? FS did run the ball well. Was the game ever in doubt....no.

I'd be quick to criticize Cooper this year also if they played poorly, but they haven't so why criticize them? It's not like Cooper is going into the playoffs with a 3-7 record or anything. They are 9-1 yet they are not deserving of their record?

 

They have only been in 5A for 2 years and in NKY have faired pretty well in those 2 years. 2 District championships and only 1 loss in district play, I'm just giving them the credit they deserve is all.

 

I'm not predicting Cooper to the state finals, I'm simply judging the season as it stands right now, today. That is all anyone can do, and that is what I did.

 

 

You asked who have they beaten this year? They've bbeaten every team but one they faced so far, they also beat both teams that handed Conner losses. They can only beat who they play just like any other team. What do you want me to say? That theyy beat Trinity? They didn't play Trinity

You can say it was a bad night for 6A but I thought Campbell County represented themselves well at Ballard. Ballard is #8 in 6A per BGP and Campbell had them beat if not for a bad night with the kicking game. After Trinity, X, and Scott County it appears no one is unbeatable in 6A. Outside of those 3, I like Campbell's chances against anyone in 6A. Unfortunately all 3 of those are on Campbells side of the bracket. Would have been a good year to tank the regular season to get on the other side of the bracket.

 

Maybe the quality of football is down in NKY but I don't see it great anywhere else either. Beechwood will still make a strong push in A, I still NCC has a great chan ce to win 2A, Highlands is a lock for 4A, Conner and Cooper can make a serious push in 5A, and Campbell can go as far as a match up with one of the big 3. Not bad for a "Down Year." I still think top to bottom the best football undoubtly is played in NKY.

I am not disputing Cooper's season. They are having a great year. All I am saying is let's see if they can sustain success after this year. Hopefully they can. I hope they can make a deep run in the playoffs. Playoff football is a different animal, hopefully they learned that last year. Good luck to them

Conner 21 (CCH 7 Campbell 6 Scott 5 Ryle 3)

Cooper 20 (Campbell 6 Holmes 6 Scott 5 Ryle 3)

 

I've got Conner as the 2-seed.

Yes but since they were not part of the 3-way tie you can count your victory over them. There is no part of the rule that says you cannot count district wins.
