I have tried to follow this story, but it is difficult to sift through all the information. Bob Woodward was interviewed by Sean Hannity tonight and he said that the more we "peel this onion, the more inconsistency we find" on the part of the administration.

Our government is saying so many things I can't keep in mind what they say.

This was 7 hour engagement. There were mortar squads part of the attack. With good accuracy they took out the former SEALS who were observing and had lasers to illuminate the targets from the ground. They would have been able to direct fire if Puff had been put on station.

The battle lasted SEVEN hours. How could they just sit in the situation room and watch our people die and do nothing to help when plenty of help was willing and available ?

Clyde, have we come across evidence to the contrary? I can respect that maybe it was the right thing, but man sending them guys a Specter Gunship sure wouldn't have put American lives at risk and it certainly would have helped their situation. We (the Admin) had the time to make that decision.

I would at least investigate it for 2 more weeks.

 

To me the issue is that the more we learn the more disturbing. To lay the blame on a video for around two weeks makes you wonder what's really going on.

OK. So what we are left with is our opinions on this because there are so many loose ends to fill. I think what I'm left with is that with the timing of it being a major issue (election season) and with information trickling out a little bit at a time the handling of this just hasn't been all that graceful.

No question that the inability (or refusal) to help was heartbreaking. Sadly, that's part of the risk you take in that line of work.
