There is nothing to coverup. They just need to admit they screwed up and didn't offer more security, that it was not because of a movie, and denied any help. And probably because they are trying to appease the Muslims.

You don't make sense. If you believed they denied the request then you indeed think there is a coverup since they said they did not deny it.
