October 17, 201214 yr I thought he said that we will stand up against any act of terror but never said that it was, in fact, an act of terrorism for roughly two weeks. That's what I thought as well.
October 17, 201214 yr Thought President Obama was much better than last debate, felt Gov. Romney was pretty solid as well. I would say it was very close to a draw, with the slightest of edges to the President.
October 17, 201214 yr The moderator should get on all news stations and admit she screwed up by backing what Obama said in regards to Libya because it was not what she said. Obama never said it was an act of terror.

Obama never said it was an act of terror. What did he say that day in the Rose Garden? I assume it's your opinion that when he said "no act of terror" wasn't a direct reference to this case?
October 17, 201214 yr I thought he said that we will stand up against any act of terror but never said that it was, in fact, an act of terrorism for roughly two weeks. I guess that could be conveyed as the same thing but I thought he kept it vague in case it was a protest. Why did he send his surrogates out on all the talk shows saying it was " the video"; and then himself stick to that story for a couple weeks. He acts like no one is paying attention--But then given his mostly favorable media coverage, maybe he can get away with it?? Also "Coal Friendly"--Give me a break!
October 17, 201214 yr Author Definite improvement for the President. I also thought Romney was as strong as the first debate. Until the Libya question, I would have given a slight edge to Romney, or maybe a draw. But I thought Romney handled the question very poorly, and coming in, I thought he would score big points with that subject. End of the day, I say it's a draw. But as Habib pointed out, I think this likely shifts the momentum of the race back to the President, though in a smaller way. Who would have thought Libya would win the debate for Obama? But I think it did. Obama came across as totally presidential and Romney seemed lost on how to handle the issue.

October 17, 201214 yr Who would have thought Libya would win the debate for Obama? But I think it did. Obama came across as totally presidential and Romney seemed lost on how to handle the issue. I don't think it won the debate for Obama. I think it prevented Romney from having a second consecutive win. But yes, I though Libya would be a land-mine for Obama in this debate & it wasn't.
October 17, 201214 yr By the way this issue of semantics is irrelevant. To any voter that views this as an important factor in their voting decision AND who is still not decided will AT BEST be unsure as to the intent of the words being used. What some of those will see if one guy accusing the other guy of not saying something when the words were indeed used. In other words, there is no win for the Governor here - only a potential loss. A fair debate is how strongly the administration condemned the act as terrorism. That's not what the Governor said when he tried to nail him down to certain words. He missed a golden opportunity.

Tough to win on a point when he completely admitted lack of security was on him. Didn't I hear that right?
October 17, 201214 yr BTW--Want's this supposed to be a foreign policy debate?? Also--Good defense attorney job for the Prez by the mod on the Libya question.

I don't think it's possible for a town hall format to be restricted to foreign policy. Those cats had a hard enough time getting their questions out without spitting on themselves.

But yes, I though Libya would be a land-mine for Obama in this debate & it wasn't. Going into that question I thought Obama had redeemed himself and that it might be something to hang him up, but Romney tied his own noose on that one. Biden was hit with the question right out of the gate, and Obama fortuitously got to deal with it late, but it might have ended up being his best exchange besides the tax question. It was a good night for Obama.
