I would go Madison Central, Henry Clay, Dunbar, Scott County, Lafayette and LexCath. After that, I think it's a toss up with a lot of teams. For top players, I think Hawkins and Whitman are 1-2. William Gary of Dunbar and Quin Richardson of Scott County are 2 kids that must be somewhere in the Top 10. Having said that, the region is loaded with talent and you would have a tough time narrowing it down to the Top 20. The one thing I will say is no matter how much Scott County lost, do not ever count them out. They may have different players, but they were very competitive this summer with their core group of returnees. So, if they added, watch out!

Hard to convince anyone that Woodford has outdone Scott County on the transfers. Pretty sure people are smarter than that. Hasn't been the same fan support since the '98 team won the state. Last years championship game was evidence of that.

Lafayette certainly has size with a pair of 6'8 players.

Dunbar way too low. They are absolutely loaded this year.

They are also just juniors. I think their best ball will be next season. (2013-14)

 

 

After seeing them dominate January and flame out in February it seems as though folks are taking a wait and see approach. I am. I look forward to watching them play.

Bottom line...... In my mind, Henry Clay will need to compete with Madison Central, Lexington Catholic, PRP, Bullitt East, Trinity and Ballard for the state title.

 

Those schools combine talented players ALONG WITH very good coaching so that, at tournament time, they have the offensive system that can take care of the ball and score when needed, the defensive system to lock down and get stops and the mental and physical toughness to win close games.

The bigger question is should they have 3 of the Top 10? Based on talent and potential, then the answer is yes. If you are looking at top players that will make the biggest impact on the region they have something to prove.
