Beechwood 34 Cooper 12 (JV)

Recommended Posts

Please do not start giving out rings. We saw this with the 2008 Freshman Champs (Last year's Seniors) Great team, Great Talent, no hardware to show for it. Those Freshman Championship Jackets look pretty silly on a Senior. Without coaches that have the ability to recognize talent and combine the best from all classes, they will do the same thing.

I'm not giving out any rings. I'm just making a point that some on here thought after the way Beechwood started that they may have seen their best days behind them for a few years (and I was one of them). I can vouche for the talent they have coming up that they again will be a force in their district for several years to come. I never hand out rings because any given Sunday, or should I say Friday, anything can happen.

That may be true also. I don't know the reasons behind him leaving etc. But I can pretty much guess that there are always going to be people that don't like some coaches. I bet there are highlands folks who may not like their coach either. Everyonne has their personal reasons so that doesn't surprise me.

All I can go by is that I know he is very well liked and respected at Cooper. I also know a certain Conner coach (that I know you know) who highly respects him.

I have never had a problem with Bob, I am neutral. But like you said when you leave somewhere there is always a reason(s) and Bob has left a lot of somewheres.

Knowing Bob personally I know he wouldn't want the attention over any of the kids who have played in this game so that being said let's get this thread back on topic. How many JV games has Beechwood won? I know they are always a very talented team and I ear their Freshman tea. Is loaded. Looks like the talent is still coming in. Easy to do though when you have a school that excels in the classroom as well as the field.

A couple quick thoughts:

*2nd reserve win for Beechwood (2-3 on the season)

*There is a very good chance that Beechwood and Mayfield will move up to AA with the next alignment.

*Beechwood would very much like to move up to AA.

*No clue what the future will bring for the current freshman class ... right now they are handling their schedule. I am sure that the expectations will grow or subside based on their performance.

*Coach Burnett is a great man and a great coach (I have met some who disagree ... but they have generally been clueless and base their decisions on things that they have "heard". If people don't like him .. that is their problem).

Back to the game ... both teams played hard.

The future looks bright for Cooper (wow .. they have great size .. and plenty of fight).

Great point, both teams looked good and played hard...and what about Coopers size, they were HUGE! Another year in the weight room, I shudder to think what could happen in 5A.

BW has some good classes coming up, but as someone pointed out, they dont just give state championship rings away, if the continue to dedicate themselves to the cause they will be in the hunt for one of those illusive rings, IMO.

I don't know the story behind the places he left. I do know he wanted a HC position and maybe that was inside friction with other HC's, i have no idea, just throwing out a possible reason.

It was very clear that with Beechwood's JV team and their Freshman team this year, they are about to become the powerhouse we all are familar with in single A for the next few years.

They really looked good.

Hbird, Beechwood is and has been a class A power for decades, they have only lost 3 games to Class A teams in the last 3 years granted they were all biggies to my Cardinals. No reason in the world for you to feel like they were no longer a powerhouse. I'm sure they will continue to be though I might point out that Mayfield has some up comming classes that we think will be ring hunting

That all comes down to enrollment numbers. I do believe that Mayfield was the largest school in 1A when they last reclassified

I think they were tied with someone, I have heard we are now 2nd or 3rd though I have not looked it up and it's based on some sort of multi year average or somthing along those lines. Most if not all Mayfieldians hope we go back to AA. As it stands now it's just not very competitive for us once 1A ball starts and it stays that way until the last 2 games of the playoffs almost every year. Only Russellville can occasionally mount any district challenge and that does not look like it will be changing in the forseeable future where if we are in AA we would have a bunch of competitive games in district.

The bold is the key. Pure talent will win games for you on the freshman level. That talent often gets caught up to by the time the senior year arrives. It takes talent plus hard work plus team chemistry plus a little luck somewhere in there to get that ring.

Great point, we have all seen the "can't miss" young man on the freshmen team, only to find out 3 years later that same young man went from can't miss, to can't find!

Mayfield will be right there with powerhouse Beechwood be it in 1A or 2A. We dont have a freshman team so I can't say anything about are powerhouse team. I do know we are just plain loaded from 8th grade down to 4th grade, some very fine looking atheletes. You Beechwood fans might remember this name Bright as in Mikey Bright. His son is on the way up and he is 100% going to be reckoned with. As you Beechwood fans know winning a freshmen title is nice but it doesn't mean your going to win a state title, it just means you may a have a chance and thats all any program can ask for.

A side note is I think Mayfield in all probability will move up to 2A
