You gotta love it when it is a "down" year and you are a top 5 1A team whose 3 losses are a last minute loss to a 7-1 6A school, a close loss to a 5-2 4A school and a loss to a 5-2 4A school that is #2 in their class. Perhaps that says Beechwood football more than anything else.

Very true. BBeing a BW Alumni I always keep an eye on that team year after year and have madde several trips to state finals over the years even though my kids go to boone coounty schools. My heart will always be partially at BW. I just love what they can ddo over the past 20+ years with such a small student body. They are fun to watch and at Cooper we are very lucky to have one of their asst. Coaches the last couple years. Coach Burnett is so highly respected among the players and fellow coaches and comes from a long string of Beechwood coaches that have gone elsewhere with mmuch success.

It was very clear that with Beechwood's JV team and their Freshman team this year, they are about to become the powerhouse we all are familar with in single A for the next few years.

They really looked good.

Honest question because I don't know the answer, is Mayfield moving up to 2A the next time the KHSAA reclassifies?

That all comes down to enrollment numbers. I do believe that Mayfield was the largest school in 1A when they last reclassified. And the Brossart fans will tell you their numbers were counted wrong and they should have been in 1A instead of Mayfield. I believe Beechwood was the 3rd largest school in 1A. As a Beechwood fan, I hope enrollment keeps going up so Beechwood can move up to 2A and if Mayfield does also, that is fine. I believe most Beechwood supporters and coaches would rather be in 2A.

Coach Burnett is a great guy, an excellent coach and very highly respected by everyone at Beechwood.

Of course it is wait and see. No doubt the future is bright for Beechwood but depending on what class they are in and who is there with them titles may continue to be elusive.

Not true, many people feel exactly has you have stated but many others don't care for Burnett at all.

I do not know a single person who doesn't care for him. I'm sure there are some, but "MANY" would be pushing it in my opinion. When he was at BW, it sure seemed like the kids liked him as well.

Please do not start giving out rings. We saw this with the 2008 Freshman Champs (Last year's Seniors) Great team, Great Talent, no hardware to show for it. Those Freshman Championship Jackets look pretty silly on a Senior. Without coaches that have the ability to recognize talent and combine the best from all classes, they will do the same thing.

That may be true also. I don't know the reasons behind him leaving etc. But I can pretty much guess that there are always going to be people that don't like some coaches. I bet there are highlands folks who may not like their coach either. Everyonne has their personal reasons so that doesn't surprise me.

All I can go by is that I know he is very well liked and respected at Cooper. I also know a certain Conner coach (that I know you know) who highly respects him.
