Poor tackling makes me unhappy.

 

That is a understatement.

Well we found out where the replacement refs went... 2nd down and 8 to go... Not sure what happened on the CCH fumble.... HHS recover.... Ref blows play dead then... HHS fumble in the CCH backfield... Then refs decide to have a "Do-over" and give the ball back to CCH 2nd and 8 again... the ref blew the whistle early but if they gave CCH the ball back, it should have been at best 3rd and 14.

 

Props to the HHS coaches for opening the playbook... They threw more pass last night than they had all season... Austin H (Number 7 for those without a roster...lol) seems to be getting more comfortable... It seemed to help open up the middle of the field for the running game. Cain (number 19) had a nice day with 4 catches... the TD's were huge but the sideline timing catch on 3rd and long for a first down was probably the nicest.

 

Zigler's (Number 45) pick and long return was critical on a CCH drive... Kid has some serious wheels.. not as fast as Kendall (number 4) but has some nice size to go along with his speed...

 

The line did another nice job on both Offense opening holes and protecting the QB and Defense kept the pressure on CCH's passing game... they seem to really be starting to gel.

 

HHS has a tough schedule to play out but it would be nice to muddy the water with a win against Ryle... Nice Job 'Birds and Good Luck next week

Honestly a Freshmen teams coach that doesn't bring a roster, just puzzles me and what we did have, was via the coach in the press box when we asked for some names to the better player!

 

Shouldn't puzzle you at all. It's more important to you than it is to the HHS coaches. If the HHS coaches were concerned about the names of their players being announced over the PA system or being recorded in someone's stat book, they'd have brought one. They aren't. It's that simple.

It's puzzles me too...Maybe HHS was trying to hide something. Maybe they changed some jerseys at half because #5 was a man amongst boys in the 2nd half. Didn't see that much out of him in the 1st half. Very strange! Might be something to look into....

 

Funny that you mention that because I heard his mother has a hard time remembering if he is # 5 or # 35. Perhaps he was wearing # 35 in the first half.

Once again poor tackling hurt CovCath in the second half.

Highlands last TD, covCath had the back stop for no gain, but like all Highlands backs never stop, CovCath does not wrap up and a long TD run.

 

You need to wrap Dougherty up... Kid always gives a second and third effort... Another awesome game by Jared... He has been doing it pretty much all year... Not sure where the "Switching Jerseys" comment came from

Sorry just trying to confuse everyone... (Number 2)

On a more serious note. Best game I have seen this "team" play all year on both sides of the ball. Offensive line (Haas, Jager, Richardson, Robinson and Hebel) was as good as I have seen them all year from left to right. Hergott played his best game by far, and as I said a few weeks ago has really seemed to find a comfort level at the QB position. Good to see Mitchell Cain display the talent that he has. Running game was solid as usual. You could have driven a truck through the hole on the first play of the second half and IMO was the play that changed the game.

 

Defense was pretty solid all night. Best I have seen the DB's look all year as they were really flying to the football and laying some licks on the receivers. Linebacker play and D-line play were pretty good all night. Really liked seeing Ziggy get to display his talent and speed on the interception late in the 2nd quarter.

 

Really felt that CovCath never really stopped Highlands on offense last night. Only had to punt one time and that was very late in the game when Highlands was trying to run out the clock and Highlands did not turn the ball over.

 

CovCath has some nice players who if they blend well with their upperclassman should make for some very exciting games in the next few years.

I find it hard to believe the Lil' Blue Colonels hadn't scouted the Birds and attained a roster previously. Is it protocol for the visiting team to provide a roster to the home team prior to the game? Do they do this at film swap? Do Freddies have a film swap? I'm 100% sure there was no "trickeration" going on with jerseys. All they really had to do was ask an opposing parent (they are usually not hard to spot) for a quick run down of the players. Heck, usually a post on BGP gets the job done. Congrats to the Birds on the victory and I applaud the CC coach for playing his roster...that will pay off in the long run!

It is a "Do-over" because all inadvertent whistles blown(which happened) requires a that play be played over. I think....

Just relax.....Just having some fun!!! The same could of been said the other day about your comment where you said the HHS receivers need to be more involved in the HHS offense. I think you even used the "Transfer" word. That actually was amusing!!!! That certain kid isn't going anywhere, especially after Dale locks him in 4 weeks from Friday's game in the annual "Lock-em" night. LOL....
