Agree. And I don't put much stock in frosh results. On all levels, it's supposed to be about kids playing the game they love. Nothing more; nothing less.

I know the boys (at least those at HHS) are conditioned (instructed) not to let trash talking, etc, get the better of them. And the ability to let things go in one ear and out the other comes with age, maturity, and experience. However, after talking with several persons today, I now better understand what led #42 of HHS, to be taken off of the field late in the game, following off setting penalties, and the leveling of a third against CCH.

 

It's one thing to hear the trash talking, who cares what they say, just laugh it off and get back to work. God only knows what goes on in a fumble pile, would never want to know, but have heard the horror stories. But for the center of CCH to straight on let loose with a mouthful of spit into the face of the HHS nose tackle, to me, crosses the line. It is just my opinion, maybe it goes on everywhere, but should have been dealt with. Pro players in all sports must stop play when they start bleeding to get it tended to, and therefore, not allow anyone contact with bodily fluids. Last time I checked, a mouthful of spit is a major bodily fluid. And it's not like he just needed to get rid of what was in his mouth either. You don't just "accidentally" aim for someone's face..

We have the greatest rivalry in Kentucky High School football in our own backyard. The reason it is the greatest is the MUTUAL respect each program has for the other. Rivalry should never be based on HATRED, and when one or more taint the spirit of the game because they cannot control their anger, thus the team loses. That is why I personally feel for the fine young men of the CCH JV football team. All they tried to do was play their hearts out for their school and that opportunity was taken away by the thoughtless act of a "FAN". I loathe when refs dictate the outcome of a game and when someone not even playing on the field affects the outcome, that is the travesty. It's time for adults to act like adults and be an example worthy of emulation and maybe we wouldn't be talking about tweets. The road to STATE should go through Northern Kentucky each year. We have two very storied programs here with great heritage, don't destroy what these young men have built with their blood, sweat, and tears by not being able to restrain your own acts. Time to take responsibility folks and preserve the integrity of the game. Now, let's talk rematch, game on Colonels!

I respectfully disagree Mex. Even though the scores may show lopsidedness the fire that these kids have in their bellies everytime they match up is beyond comparison to any other team. Outside of a few years ago when the Birds really laid it on the Colonels, the rivalry has gotten much better as far as the Colonels chances of playing competetively and having a chance to win.

If you can find one, let me know! Everyone in the stadium "saw" the coaches speak with him. So? Do you really think that they were going to let the other players hear something that could make the situation even more inflammatory?

Here is what you can do, since you have not played the game of football:

 

Borrow someones football equipment, pads, helmet & mouthpiece.

Go run around for about half an hour (not the 2 1/2 hours that the boys were on the field).

At the end of that time, see how much saliva you can generate.

Next, take that saliva and see what you can spit, with accuracy, with a mouthpiece in, thru a facemask.

Let me know how that works out.

I don't need luck, with the truth on my side...Did you miss that saying "the TRUTH will set you free"?

 

 

Do you know me personally? Do you know anything about me? Well, I can answer that. No. Do you know if I have ever played football? No. Just because I asked some questions in an earlier post or made some statements about fumble piles, or if teams spit on opponents, doesn't mean I have never played football, never worn football equipment, whatever.

 

Proven fact: Physical exertion does produce more saliva in the mouth, therefore necessitating a need to get rid of it. Preferably, by spitting it out...duh

 

Since the majority of mouthpieces, (CCH's may be different), stay fitted on the top teeth, YES, you can spit quite easily...It doesn't take a rocket scientist to spit the short distance between a center and a nose tackle. You really don't even have to aim.

 

#42 didn't need to EMBELLISH anything to justify a penalty, but nice try. AND standing on the SIDE LINE puts you right next to the nose tackle? With all of the boys lined up, you wouldn't even be able to see it happen. But, since YOU said it didn't happen, and YOU weren't playing on the field, and YOU didn't get spit on, and YOU are the ultimate last word, Well, let me bow down....because YOU know everything...

I would like to be the bigger person here and apologize to the other members of this forum for letting this get out of hand. I took offense to being labeled a trash talker, which I most certainly am not. Whether someone has played this great game or not, there is no room on here to bash anyone. I posted a paragraph on another thread about the rivalry between these two programs, and how great both schools are. And that earned me a bashing because a kid reacted to an incident that occured on the field, that AAATC said he was lying about. But I won't apologize for believing in the kid. AAATC may have been on the sideline, but he wasn't in the game.

I have a question for those in the know. Why did the chain gang member's actions penalize the Colonels? The chain gang is part of the officiating crew. If he is being disruptive, then he gets tossed. A team should not be penalized for an angry official.

I believe the home team for JV and Frosh games are responsible for providing the chain crew..I am pretty sure Varsity is the same also..
