We have the greatest rivalry in Kentucky High School football in our own backyard. The reason it is the greatest is the MUTUAL respect each program has for the other. Rivalry should never be based on HATRED, and when one or more taint the spirit of the game because they cannot control their anger, thus the team loses. That is why I personally feel for the fine young men of the CCH JV football team. All they tried to do was play their hearts out for their school and that opportunity was taken away by the thoughtless act of a "FAN". I loathe when refs dictate the outcome of a game and when someone not even playing on the field affects the outcome, that is the travesty. It's time for adults to act like adults and be an example worthy of emulation and maybe we wouldn't be talking about tweets. The road to STATE should go through Northern Kentucky each year. We have two very storied programs here with great heritage, don't destroy what these young men have built with their blood, sweat, and tears by not being able to restrain your own acts. Time to take responsibility folks and preserve the integrity of the game. Now, let's talk rematch, game on Colonels!

After a 3 or 4 week layoff, Houliston was absolutely fantastic. His natural feel for the game and position are outstanding. I cannot wait to watch this kid run the big squad next year.

 

On the defensive side of things for the birds, the loss of three Sophs to the varsity team has no doubt hurt the pass D. A few things to work on this week.

To me at least, it wasn't quite fair to the "D" kids parents to take the brunt of a lot verbal abuse that was thrown those kids way today.

 

I for one didn't see either a HHS or CovCath "D" player quit, lay down or stop playing. What I did see was a group of kids for each "D" to be a lot smaller than those on the "O" side of the ball and the "O" side like they are suppose to took advantage of it!

 

Just because the "D" for both teams got beat and beat badly time after time, it wasn't because of a lack of effort or trying.

Notre Dame Academy on the hill in the background, leaves changing color, slight nip in the air, fireball flying everywhere....

Am I correct in that Highlands played 10 Srs in this game? I am assuming these are kids who do not see the Varsity field and also assuming this is somethIng agreed upon by the opposing coaches.

I've got no problem with it nor do I think you have to ask the other team.

#44 R. Donovman was a senior and he scored two TD's and except for Watson and Telke the rest who scored TD's for HHS were Juniors, I believe.

 

CovCath only had sophomores score and to my knowledge, no seniors played! Does it bother me? Not at all but it does show how badly HHS wanted to win a JV game over CovCath!

 

There is for the majority of HS students, a huge difference in size, maturity and experience between a HS senior and a HS sophomore whether that senior plays varsity football or not!

22 seniors and I believe all but 3 played Friday and remember I said it didn't bother me one bit that HHS played seniors!

 

 

 

Donovan (#44) only played JV as he was coming back from an injury and needed to get in some reps to get back into Varsity condition. It was not a question of playing seniors on JV to get a win.
