I have a question for those in the know. Why did the chain gang member's actions penalize the Colonels? The chain gang is part of the officiating crew. If he is being disruptive, then he gets tossed. A team should not be penalized for an angry official.

 

He was flagged for directing an expletive at the side judge right next to him. He was using the forbidden word to express displeasure with a call ( CCH fumble that was recovered by HHS).

 

There was quite a lengthy discussion between the entire crew, then with the CCH coach before the penalty was actually assessed. I assume the officials were discussing exactly what you are questioning. Round two of expressed displeasure was walked off much quicker. A second delay was to get administration to remove the gentlemen - actually a waste of time as he had already made his way off the field.

 

I am by no means familiar with KHSAA rules as it pertains to the chain gang, but to say they are part of the officiating crew at this level of sport is a stretch. This was a JV football game.

Had to get new tires put on the car and tire stems were extra. :ohbrother:

It is still a high school game, and as such they are part of the crew, in my opinion. I get that they aren't officials that are going to call a game, but are volunteers. I believe, however, that they are still under the jurisdiction of the white hat. Otherwise, they are volunteer parents who curse at a ref. Throw them out like you would a moron in the crowd. He's not a coach or part of CovCath's program.
