September 4, 201214 yr 1. Commit to football the same way your competition does(top tier SEC schools). 2. Create a brand for the UK football team. 3. Hire a coach who thinks outside the box(UK cannot line up week in and week out and compete with the big boys in the SEC without doing something a little differently, whether it be offensively or defensively) and who can create excitement.

September 4, 201214 yr Too bad Howard Schnellenberger is old. He is now retired from coaching. If UK had gotten him about 20 years ago, things would be better now, I'm sure. I don't think UK is a destination job for anyone except those who may have strong Kentucky ties, like Howard. UK might need to get an up and comer knowing that he will move on after so many years (kind of like UL and UC have done). Fran Curci did a good job but could not avoid the NCAA bug. UK is like the USA in soccer: the Cats are not good because not enough people care enough about the FB program.

Of course that is California dollars. The cost of construction and materials out there is 2 to 3 times what you'd pay in most other parts of the country. You could build something similar for less than half, probably.
September 4, 201214 yr The Cats have to fine a way to get a big name coach to come to Lexington. Someone who can recruit and the powers at be let him do things his way and provide him with whatever he wants. Florida spent over 100 million on football upgrades.
