The woman is not carrying another individual. Taxes: Everybody should pay their fair share. It is justified to tax productivity. We need taxation to ensure that everyone is treated equal. Defense: Liberals are inconsistent. During the Bush years they were against it. Under Obama, we hear much less anti-war rhetoric. They traditionally advocate less defense spending. Welfare: The government can provide the most adequate, best designed process of ensuring equality. Government can decide where to allocate resources and money for the sake of all. Healthcare: Healthcare is a right. The people are entitled to healthcare services and the services that Doctors and Pharmacies provide, which the government should take part in. Guns: Guns are borderline barbaric. There is no need for people to have more than a handgun or the occasional shotgun. Automatic weapons have no place in the hands of an ordinary citizen. Extensive background checks are helpful to ensure that guns do not land in the hands of criminal. What are your thoughts of a liberal, Clyde? I know you don't like to be labeled under a liberal, but is there any policy in the liberal philosophy that you wholeheartedly disagree with? First, well done, Marvel. This, unlike most of the others, is exactly the type of response I'm looking for. No rancor. No shots. I do not "wholeheartedly" disagree with any policy by either side that I can think of. It's more of a matter of degree. I think we pay too many taxes . I think national defense is always a priority and should be that way - but I think it's the details that are changing that we need to consider. I am pro-life as in I can't imagine aborting a fetus. However, I think there is no way in hell we can make it illegal. I'm pro-death penalty only in a few without ANY doubt situations. I am a firm believer in the govt having to have "cause" to do anything to me and my property. I am 100% against the "end justifies the means" concept when it comes to traffic stops/coming into my home/coming onto my property/tapping my email and phone/etc. I am moving to healthcare being a right more and more. I am pro-guns. I just don't see the need for ALL types of guns. I fully realize this shoots the "liberal" label full of holes. Labels are often incorrect.

If we're going to have labels it's good to know the general definition. It was meant with Love Clyde, (don't know you well enough to feel that I can call you Clizzy). Thought provoker is probably better definition but, there just wasn't a Though Provoker Smiley available so I went with Pot Stirrer. Again it was with love and respect.

August 27, 201214 yr The Liberals are on the wrong side on each of these issues in my opinion. Their viewpoint has been well discussed here. I don't agree with their viewpoint on any issue; there, I am not a liberal. Clyde-there may be more right wingers on BGP, but that just reflects our area of the nation.The left wingers are much more active on this board in my opinion. Smaller numbers for them but many more posts. (See Clyde 40,279 posts since May 2008)
August 27, 201214 yr I've seen the liberal and far right lables thrown around on here regularly. It's my guess that except for a very few members on either side, most of this board would fall into the moderate left or moderate right categories if we closely examined their positions on the various policies.

Where does a liberal stand on: Abortion - on demand, government funded. Taxes - use as wealth re-distribution. Defense - Reduce. Who cares if it is a Constitutional requirement. It gets in way of what taxes are for (see above) Welfare - Give as much as possible to create institutionalized voting blocks. Healthcare - Free, on-demand, the zeroth amendment of the Constitution. They just forgot it. Guns - No guns for anyone. Repeal 2nd amendment. Guns are evil.
