Played well against HHS JV..........Doesn't do anything spectacular....Plays hard and hustles....Should be a solid varsity player in a couple years....I think he is about 6'2????????

Arrez Henderson is the best sophomore I have seen easy. I haven't seen Simpson from Highlands I hear he has improved this year.

He's big and a decent ball handler. I think he'll benefit from playing JV and he contributes. It doesn't hurt when your Grandpa is a varsity assitant, either.

Just finished watching the HHS-NCC frosh game. Josh Connor doesn't play the perimeter. He's an inside guy, plays hard, makes free throws. Handles the ball OK especially at the end of the game to get fouled. He never shot further than 3 feet from the basket. A solid player...but nowhere near the stud he is in FB. They should be playing him at the point cuz' I believe that's where he'll end up down the road...IF he stays with hoops.

 

He played point guard for the Ky. Kings AAU team and did pretty well there. Agree football is his best sport .... unless you count baseball.

Sorry...HHS over NCC by about 8-10 pts. Game coulda-shoulda been closer. When NCC coach emptied the bench with adout 5 minutes left, the hustle and TALENT of Giesler, Johnson and Rawe were bringing them back. IMO NCC has the talent to beat HHS. They COULD play more of their bench when it matters. The boys are very capable. It would give the starters a rest and a different "outlook" on what's going on on the court. Started the 2nd half with a beautiful play to Roll down low (what a hoss!) and NEVER went back to it ???? Both teams were EXTREMELY sloppy with the basketball. Very lackladaisacal passing. Mitch Fair owned the 1st quarter offensively...then disappeared the rest of the game??? Giesting off the HHS bench looked good and really improved over last year. Funny how the bench kids weren't scared to death on the floor like last year. Funny the bench kids SAW the floor UN-like last year.....meaningful playing time = confidence?????????? NewCath would only foul J. Connor at the end of the game??? Why not trap and scrap into one of the reserves???

He is NOT getting a pass because of his name. He's one of the 5 best JV players . Period. He has improved his game a lot over the last year simply by trying to do less and letting it come to him rather than forcing it. Maturity. My guess is that you will see Luke hit about 6'3 or 6'4 like his grandfather.

 

The SOPH class is far from weak. Combine current SOPHS Bondick, Grimes, Noll, Lampl, and Schmerge with current FROSH Maile, Shover, and Nutini and in two seasons, they will be #1 or #2 in the region fighting for the region championship. IMO that team, with no superstar like TJ today, will be better all around than the current squad(and the current squad is very good).

Another camel player you should add to this list are 2 freshman shooting guards Pat Nerl and Kagan Gearhart. They both can shoot very well from the outside and inside.

Pat Nerl hit 5 of 6 threes tonight and finished with 21 points in leading Campbell County freshmen to a 55-39 victory over Pendleton County. Matt Coffman added 17 points and 8 rebounds.

I've only watched the FROSH once. He started the game and was very active. He looks to be athletic and that helps him on the court.

Can't speak of the Sophmores but as for Freshmen, if I were selecting a team it would look like this:

I would fill out a ten man roster with:

1.) Steve McFarland - Boone Co. - great playmaker at the point

2.) Jayce Jordan - Conner - only knows one speed & direction - full speed at the rim

3.)Steve Helmer - Ryle - can shoot the three, drive the lane, 90+% FT shooter

4,)Pete Albrecht - Campbell Co. - 6'5" shot blocker and good defender

5.)David Darnell - Newport - 6'5" strong rebounder with a great shot

I've seen Ryle's freshman team and really was surprised on there size. Very big. But I wasn't impressed that much. The big men inside were just that, big. They had a really nice guard on the freshman squad who could really shoot. I'm guessing thats Helmer?

Henderson from Holmes has to be on everyone's list, he by far has set the standard in NKY for Sophs. There are plenty of good 10th graders out there, but Henderson has to be in your top 3-5 if it is a true list and not just a homer list. This is just my oberservation on this thread.

Doug Lambert is a very good player for Pendleton, pretty much their whole team. He scored 12 points in the first of three lopsided losses to the Camels. Not sure what he scored in Friday and Saturday games, could have been 20 each game, I don't know. Campbell Co. bench played a lot of minutes in all three games as starters established quick 20+ point leads. Yesterday's game started out with a 20-2 Camel run. Again, Lambert is a very good player, but your facts aren't entirely accurate and are very misleading. To say he is 50% of Pendleton's offense and that he scored against a variety of Camel players (Coffman included) would better reflect what really happened.

 

(Didn't mean to offend anyone with my initial list. Of course there are some really good players that didn't make my top ten. It is just my opinion after seeing current freshmen in school and AAU games over the last few years. Other very knowledgeable people would surely have different opinions.)
