Where's the scientific evidence for God?

 

Design of the universe

Proximity of the earth to the sun

Combination of elements in oxygen only found on Earth

Axis of the earth providing sun rays which allows the food chain to exist

Creation of Life

Scientific principal of impossibility

Anthropologically speaking: The same "type" God being worshiped in hundreds of cultures on six continents over thousands of years.

None of that is proof of God. The only proof that I need is that unequivocal, for lack of a better word, spark inside me that tells me that there is. Religion is about faith. There is NO NEED for faith if their is evidence.

I think that formerkywrestler reasons rather well. What he evidently does not have is that unmistakable "spark" that convinces some of us that God exists, regardless of there being no evidence of his existance.

...I'm with TB&G I don't see any of that as proof of God.

First of all, I echo was TB&G stated about FKYW. While he & I come from the absolute opposite ends of the spectrum in how we think or believe about God, I've always enjoyed his insights. And he has shown nothing but respect for me, even though we are polar opposites on this issue. That has a lot to do with why I view him as one of my favorites on BGP. I consider him a friend, even though we have never met.

 

I've read a lot of C.S. Lewis, FKYW, & I was wondering how you would respond to this quote of his:

Reading Lewis sometimes makes my head hurt, but I had never given this idea consideration. What are your thoughts?

 

For me personally, it's hard to pinpoint the one primary reason for my belief in God. I was raised in a home where I was taught His existence & encouraged to follow Him. But I guess the argument that has always made the most sense to me is the Teleological argument--that design demands a Designer.

Is it a sin? I believe so, the Devil has many tools at his disposal to corrupt minds,........OMG looks who talking!! But seriously homosexuality is as common placed as breathing anymore. It's not for me however, I am to crazy about females. I can't get mind around doing something like that. won't even consider it.

Sounds to me like you were "born" heterosexual. Do you worry that seeing too many gay people on TV is going to change your mind about your sexuality? Your post reads that you are not concerned about this, much like I am. Others in this thread and the other one about gays on TV, however, must not be as secure in their sexuality and are horribly fearful of being "turned gay."

I'm secure in believing that "nothing" is going to change my mind on this subject. Even if I die single, it won't happen.

Is homosexuality a genetic mutation? In regard to the theory of evolution would not a so called homosexuality gene cease to express itself because homosexuals cannot procreate? Except in rare occurrences it might express itself . Is it a result of enviromental factors ? For example the fetus in the womb might be expose to some chemical or process foods the mother has ingested that would lower hormone levels to the developing male or female fetus. What about the use of plastic that contains bpa ( Bisphenol A) ? Studies indicated the chemical can cause changes to the hippocampus , the limbic system of the brain. Can argue that homosexuality has existed for thousand of years and there is historical evidence before these modern chemicals were develop. I could be very wrong , but I think during the development of the fetus exposure to hormones be it not enough or to much , chemicals, body temps, viruses, and other unknown factors the fetus is expose to may be the root cause of homosexuality tendencies.
