So you still think homosexuality is sinful?

Featured Replies

I have 2 that I call friend. I have a cousin who is a gay man. And I have numerous patients that are gay. Regardless if I don't know a gay soul doesn't change the fact that it's not genetic. No matter how much folks would like it to be found, it hasn't.

Right, but your gay cousin, was he masculine growing up, or effeminate?

My point is, there is NO WAY that the majority of people choose that lifestyle.

I wouldn't say he was either one but if I had to label him it would be more masculine than effeminate. And mex, the MAJORITY DON'T choose that lifestyle. If they do, the next generation will be significantly slimmer in number. If people inherently are homosexual, the logical conclusion is that our population will decrease in number. As a matter of historical fact, if humans are all genetically wired similarly, and homosexuality is an innate trait, is it common in 3rd world countries where less educated populations who survive and live with more basic primal instinct than we "more sophisticated" live? It should, by your premise that humans are born with it, be prevalent everywhere. Is it?

Not the majority of people. The majority of homosexuals. Homosexuality has been practiced throughout history, how else is it frowned upon in a 4,000 year old book?

Also, I don't know about African tribes, but I know that Uganda isn't huge on it. Again, if you are going to be completely chastised for it, maybe even killed, why would you elect to be gay?

I don't mind not seeing eye to eye on this. I will stand by my assertion that it's not genetic, and I believe it's a choice. It was a choice in Sodom as well.

Agreed. We've entered a circular argument. (Virtual hand shake)

Yep, and I appreciate your perspective.

Yep, and I appreciate your perspective.

And I yours.

With all due respect, I have no idea what that's supposed to mean, however, from a scientific point of view, there is nothing in our code of genetic makeup that even hints at a DNA marker indicating a homosexual from a heterosexual.

There's no marker for my chocolate affinity either.

Just because something hasn't been found yet doesn't mean that it is not there. For quite a while, no one promoted any evidence that the Earth revolved around the sun. It didn't mean that it didn't happen. Thank goodness for Copernicus and Galileo.

I'd think that you'd appreciate the original quote. There is no evidence that God exists, but that most certainly doesn't mean that he doesn't exist. That's why faith is required. If there was proof, there would be no need for faith.

I understand the premise, but Copernicus never met Watson and Crick. Advances in science that are just amazing are out there, yet nothing with regard to that. And, frankly, it has nothing to do with faith for me when it comes to whether or not homosexuality is encoded. Very black and white. Tangible science is available. Requires no faith for me.

Question, perhaps totally unrelated, why do homosexual women often assume roles? One is the masculine of the two and the other is the feminine?

I did not equate homosexuality to faith. You said that you did not understand my quote, "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence." I was providing an example that I thought you might appreciate.

Please explain your "Copernicus never met Watson and Crick" comment. I know Watson and Crick, just not what your comment is supposed to mean. Watson and Crick also never met Stephen Hawking.

I have no idea about why/how homosexual women choose roles in a relationship.

Send me the link in a PM please, I'd like to read it. And with all due respect BF, this is research I have a significant background in. Ask me about Catholicism, I got nothin'. Genetics, I got some things. (to quote Flula)
I will try to gather the many research references and send them to you. You may have done some study on the issue, but I promise you, this is one time that you're not correct.

Why do people elect to smoke cigarettes? They know it hurts their body and the health of those around them?

Why do people shoot up with needles? It is very dangerous. It is illegal and can result in prison time.

Why does a father molest his daughter? It hurts himself, his lovely child, will cost him his freedom, and the world will chastise him for it.

Why do I choose to eat poorly? It hurts me and the world sometimes looks down on me.

People make decisions that harm themselves all the time. We are people and we all make stupid lifestyle choices.

Again, just because something hasn't been discovered doesn't mean it does not exist.

Stephen Hawking. It should be interesting when his knee bows.

OK, I'll make you a deal, if there is ever solid evidence from credible, repeatable sources, I'll gladly admit it and then have to rethink my position on many things I suppose. Until then, it doesn't exist.

I find in interesting that if a woman finds another woman attractive that she often assumes a masculine role in the relationship.

 I feel like that's a bad movie stereotype.
