Wow. As if they already haven't done enough to her.

David Mejia, an attorney for one the boys indicates in a Courier-Journal interview that the contempt motion (which the boys initiated) has been withdrawn because the case has since gone global:

“What could contempt do now?” Mejia said in an interview. “Seems like a rather useless exercise doesn’t it?”

According to the girl, the charges have been dropped but the boys are now pursuing a civil claim against her...

I understand why they might want to do this...but, in the process, isn't it going to just put their names out there even more? I mean, a civil claim can't hide names the way a juvenile record can, can it?

Understand. But, I guess I was looking at the fact that the longer this whole "process" takes, the more their names are going to be associated with their acts. To me, I'd think they'd want this to fade into the background as soon as possible.

Plus if they do pursue a civil claim wouldn't that mean that the details of their actions would become public record? How about the defense attorney intimating that the confidentiality rules were to protect the girl? It's been stated in a few places that the bots were on the Lacrosse team of a private school. Can someone PM me the school?

Gag order the officials involved, but the victim should be able to tell the truth to whoever she wants unless she agreed to the plea agreement.

Agreed. She's talking about her life not like she's talking about something that happened to someone else. Feel horrible for the girl, really is sad.

Here is the tweet that kick started the social media movement behind Savannah getting the contempt charges dropped against her.

"Will Frey and Austin Zehnder sexually assaulted me. There you go, lock me up. I'm not protecting anyone that made my life a living Hell"

Because this thread is in the Controversial Issues forum the names of the boys who sexually assaulted Savannah are allowed to be posted if the tweet is what is reposted.

Trinity.

Something tells me the attorneys figured they were about to lose a lot of future business.

Star Jones has apparently tweeted that she would pay the young lady's fine.
