Rape victim faces charges for naming her attackers

Featured Replies

David Mejia, the lawyer for the boys who sexually assaulted Savannah Dietrich, remarked today about her conduct in naming his clients as reported in the CJ:

"We went to court hoping she would come to her senses” after the tweets, adding the laws of confidentiality in juvenile court were written to protect the victim but “apparently she didn’t want to be protected.”

Mejia is implying that his motion to hold Savannah in contempt (and either face jail time or fines) were done to protect Savannah? Uhhh, okay??

I wanted to post that put I can't copy and paste stuff from Facebook on my phone. Thanks for the tip about the Facebook page. Good stuff.

Such a sad situation. I don't blame the girl for doing what she did. Alcohol and minors never end up well. Where were this young lady's friends when she passed out?

From the you can't make this stuff up file.....

Paul W. Richwalsky, Jr. apparently assigned himself to the case. It is currently unknown if he was the lead prosecutor. He is a 1967 graduate of Trinity and sits on the alumni board. He is also said to be a member of the elite alumni group Trinity Forever.

Wow! This could really make things interesting. Not sure how much of a conflict of interest is there but definitely seems like its open for one.

Crazy ain't it?

Is this possible malpractice?

On the second last post from PP92, WOW! If it were a school I am associated with I would want Richwalsky to just leave this alone. Kind of reminds me of the case in Carolina with their lacross players, was that Wake Forest?

It was Duke. Difference is the Duke players were cleared of any wrongdoing. These guys look guilty as sin to me.

This makes me extraordinarily angry on several fronts. I completely understand her action. Rape victims often don't receive justice comparable to the crime committed against them. For her courage, I applaud her.

However, I don't understand how a plea agreement was reached without her, or her parent's consent. I am also concerned for the implications of this action with regard to future cases. If, for instance, a case arises in which the alleged rapist is in fact innocent, and the alleged victim takes action like this, where is the justice for the defendant? There are times that a boy/man have been accused falsely for reasons such as revenge.

Savannah Dietrich is off to New York this week and is believed to be making the media rounds discussing her case.

I'm intrigued to see just how involved Richwalsky was in the prosecution. The answers as to why a plea agreement was made without her or her parent's consent may be held by Richwalsky's involvement.

Very good concerns. Life is never black and white, is it? I would think that someone making false accusations would not risk jail herself to pursue a vendetta but you never know.

I pray, pray, pray he was uber-cautious in his involvement in the handling of the case. As a Trinity supporter, I will be terribly, TERRIBLY disappointed if he used his position to make a favorable situation for the boys.

I know I'm not as connected to my alma mater as perhaps I should be... but what the heck is Trinity Forever?

but what the heck is Trinity Forever?

I am not sure if PP92 was serious when he referred to it as an elite alumni group or not. I know Paul personally and I believe he a does keep up with several other alum around his class year for social get togethers and supporting Trinity activities. The may light heartedly refer to themselves as Trinity Forever but I am 99% sure it is not an "official" body of alumni.
