If they hadn't been thrown out until this point it seems like their hand may have been pushed here.

Disclaimer: I'm not sure when they were actually convicted. Could change my opinion.

It's possible the school didn't know until she outed them.

Possible, yes. Likely, not so sure. But I admittingly don't know.

I do know that some smoke seems to be rising through the air at this point...

That would be quite a twist if the school found out because of the illegal tweet.

I can see the scenario that the school doesn't know. If all of this was confidential, kids could have missed class for court time with no notification to the school by the parents. I can see kids covering for other kids. And the other thing is...the post doesn't say WHEN the kids were dismissed. It's certainly possible they were dismissed prior to their outing.

Jefferson County Attorney Mike O'Connell has announced today that the office is going to push for a change to the state law regarding the confidentiality of certain juvenile court records. No telling what that actually means.

Here's a bit more on this.

According to the girl, the charges have been dropped but the boys are now pursuing a civil claim against her...

Shouldnf she be pursuing a civil claim against them? How sick are these boys and their parents to allow them to sue a girl they raped?

What about the parents? Have they turned a blind eye to this? How do you defend a grown child who films this and passes it around, confidential or not?

You know how that goes. Johnny feeds mom and pop a story and they believe it because Johnny can't go wrong. Then mom and pop get all huffy because the system is unfairly punishing them ... hence the lawsuit by the perpetrators. I am sure our educator friends on here have stories about this type of thing happening in their high schools on a regular basis.

IMO, many parents today are the problem more than their kids. Is there a coach out there who even wants to have a conversation with parents? I think most coaches prefer no parent contact beyond informational emails and an occasional group meeting.
