July 24, 201214 yr You've already been called out on putting words in peoples mouths in this very thread by more than one person besides myself. You try and bully your way in controversial issues and don't make any real point other than pointing out the obvious which doesn't require any thought at all. Honestly, watching this thread has been entertaining to say the least. I wouldn't call all defense attorneys "intellectual". Some yes, but a lot are bottom feeders... I'm asking questions which for some reason are making people defensive. But I'm not here to impress you or others who feel the same. I haven't put words in people's mouths just asking for their opinion. If it's so comical, then why bother joining? The purpose of forums is to spark discussion. I found an interesting article and posted. It has since sparked a discussion...
July 24, 201214 yr Formerkywrestler how do you feel about families with pitbulls? They aren't necessary and the house is "safer" without them. Why risk it?
July 24, 201214 yr FKY you're usually a good and reasonable poster, but your posts on this seem oriented to antagonize. Of course if there is a gun in a home there is at least some minuscule chance for a gun accident and in a home with no gun there is no chance for a gun accident. That is no reason not to own a gun as a responsible gun owner. And it is definitely not a reason to give up my second amendment rights. Most gun accidents happen because the gun owner is not responsible. There are lots of ways to own a gun and still ensure that they cannot be accidentally discharged by anyone. For the record something I'm firmly against. But I still wonder why it's worth the risk. I'm also speaking to a certain crowd here that I outlined earlier.
July 24, 201214 yr Formerkywrestler how do you feel about families with pitbulls? They aren't necessary and the house is "safer" without them. Why risk it?Completely agree. I wouldn't own a pit. Too much risk when another breed suits me just fine. But I think that is a good comparison and I would say the "locked and loaded" crowd shares similar traits to some pit owners. I would ask many of the same questions to pit owners.
July 24, 201214 yr Ah, we are all a bit too sensitive.Just yankin' your chain. Or should I say, pullin' your tooth?
July 24, 201214 yr I think it had more to do with putting words in someone's mouth. Evidence to back up this attack?

I found an interesting article and posted. It has since sparked a discussion... You're comical. Not the topic. But hey, if you say it, it must be true. You call it apples and pianos and don't address the point that it's redundant. The chance, far be it slim, is more likely to happen in a house with a gun than without. I'd say that's common sense to say it's more likely. But bravo on such an intellectual statement  Now I'll sit back and wait for you to single out a portion of everyone's post to ridicule to try and make them look stupid while ignoring their valid points. If you don't want guns in your house, don't have them. But don't criticize others for it. Maybe you should call up granny and paw-paw and ridicule them for having guns in their house

To the part where you address my family -- I haven't ridiculed anyone for having guns in this thread. I actually said I firmly support 2nd amendment rights...
July 24, 201214 yr Just gonna throw out here that a week or so ago, a Southern Indiana man was shot and killed by his 3 year old son....who'd found that hidden, loaded handgun.

I can't count the times I've been called "naive" because I choose not to own a gun.

With all due respect, I'm not sure why the gun needs to be ready to fire in the home. I don't leave any of our semi-autos with one in the chamber. The smoothest action Kimber is too much for a child to slide and engage the cartridge in the chamber. Gun ownership comes with a certain level of responsibility to avoid such incident. Dog owners, automobile owners, and the like have a similar responsibility.

Rockmom, I hope your feeling better.(tooth) A 3 year old would not have been taught how to use or load the weapon safely. Someone in the house neglected to keep the gun and ammo(I assume the gun was already loaded with the safety off)separate and away (locked up) from the young child. This is why parents and gun owners really have to think about the what if's............................?

I object strenuously to the carelessness and blase attitude with which people treat gun safety.
