Gun Control

Featured Replies

I also learned about guns growing up. My dad, grandfathers and uncles all had shotguns and rifles. Heck, my uncles had gun racks in their trucks. And to be honest, I don't hear nearly the number of accidental shootings with rifles and shotguns that I hear involving handguns. I worry that people are too blase about handguns.
No argument here about that.

I disagree so I'm a bad person?

So you support the 2nd ammendment, but criticize people for having guns in the house but you supposedly leave your guns at families homes. Basically you agree with what friends and family do. But if you don't like the person or they don't agree with you, they are wrong or bad people. What a joke.

For those who are against guns in your home. Don't have them.

Where did I criticize someone? I keep my guns at my grandparents because they have a gun safe and I don't. Seems like a responsible thing to do.

How is asking questions a criticism?

Completely agree! There are plenty of knuckleheads who have no business possessing firearms. When I was a kid I was raised to respects guns. I was not allowed to touch a gun till I got my orange card. All the guns in my house growing up were broken down and made safe and I was allowed to look at them. Took out all the curiosity. It's the parents job to educate on gun safety for starters. I agree with if someone wants to own a gun they should take a gun safety course.
I was raised the same way, taught the same respect towards firearms, and also had to obtain my orange card.

I'll add this about handguns. I have many guns. Some (my wife) would say an arsenal. The only ones I worry about anyone misusing are the handguns.

Best place for them. And the reason why I have a $2k gun safe.

I don't have kids, but if or when I do all my guns will be in my safe except 1 that will be kept in my night stand with a gun lock that I can access quickly in the event of a home invasion.

Mine are in seperate locations but I can get to them very quickly. I have no kids living in my house. When I do get visitors with young children, the guns and ammo are locked in my gun safe. Combination lock also a key lock. When my visitors leave I put them back where I had them.

Speaking of kids and safety, a buddy of mine was at his house shaving one morning before work. His wife called him in the kitchen for something. The next thing he saw was his two year old daughter running through the house with his straight razor in her hand. In just that little time, she had grabbed that straight razor off the vanity (he didn't even realize that he layed the razor down) and was playing "catch me if you can". True story. If you got kids you have to be alert, for sure.

Exactly. I would say in a lot of the accidental shootings that occur the gun owner believes their weapon is stored safely...

We're not all that different:thumb: probably more alike than either of us want to admit

That the "always pack and my gun stays loaded" crowd don't have their guns locked away at home.
That what you think of me? I raised two kids, always had guns in the house.

Personally, I think the orange card is a good thing. I had to take the course as an adult to hunt at Fort Knox. It's my opinion that the course is less about firearm safety than overall safety (hypothermia, and other stuff that while important, should be taught secondarily in my opinion to actual firearm safety)

Funny story about me....I got my orange card....and I once won a target shooting competition (rifle). Take THAT haters. :p

Now I wouldn't go that far.
