They would be...but not a chance either of them gets hired. I would expect to see the new principal come from at very least a different school, and more than likely from out of the diocese.

Covington Latin School had a laundry list of qualified alums and individuals whom they proposed to Mike Clines and the Bishop from within their community. Their new headmaster is from outside the diocese.

Not to mention that nearly everyone, except apparently the Bishop and Clines, felt the existing headmaster was excellent and no reason to replace him.

Jenny Mertle would be an amazing choice. She is a strong no BS women who is still very kind and caring. Never heard a single person say one bad thing about Jenny in my life.

I also have a good friend that teaches at Cov. Latin & he was shocked and disappointed when Mr. Barczak was not retained...He blamed the bishop & Sup't for what he termed a ridiculous decision! I also have friends at NDA and they are thankful these guys do not have real decision- making powers at NDA as it is governed by the Sisters of NDA. IMO it sounds like if you are not a yes man you get replaced. Hmmm

The Bishop is not a fan of competing with the times, educationally speaking. He is painting Catholic educators into a corner.

When you are told you have to cut the budget by tens of thousands, year after year, the pressure to cut from the budget and find new sources of donations can grow on a person.

I agree Lawnboy...I'm sure that played a role as well.

I know nothing about the pay scale for school administrators in Kentucky, but are we sure that taking an assistant principal job at a public school pays more than being a principal at a private school? It would seem counter intuitive and, based on my experiences, not a common occurrence around the country. I am not challenging anyone on the point, I am ignorant to this situation and really want to know for my information.

It is very bad timing to try and find someone to fill a principal's job, let alone do a search outside the local area.

They'd be well served allowing one of the Assistant Prinicpals to take over in the interim.

This is going to be an ongoing theme as long as this Bishop is in place.

Jenny certainly has the proper demeanor to be a principal - even keel - stays calm.

I would think that the female assistant prinicipal, I'm sorry her name escapes me, would be the logical choice for the time being.
