Shark Week 2012

Featured Replies

I'm not personally a huge Shark Week enthusiast...but I have a few friends who are. Shark Week starts on Sunday, August 12. That puts the countdown at 34 days and change.

One of my buddies invited the whole crowd over on the 12th to play the Shark Week Drinking Game on opening day  I think I may be a bit too old for drinking games (especially when I've got to be at work the next day).

Regardless, it gave me a chuckle:

1) Drink every time you hear an Australian, South African, or British accent.

2) Drink every time you see a diver in a shark cage.

3) Whenever a great white goes airborne, drink from the point when the shark exits the water until its body has entirely re-entered the water.

4) Drink every time a person mentions chum, a shark attack statistic, or a shark fact. (Note: this can only happen once for every person.)

5) Drink every time the camera shows a surfer or pleasure swimmer in the same frame as a shark. Finish your beer if they show a chewed-up surfboard.

6) Every time there is a reenactment of a shark attack, drink.

7) If they mention sharks/shark attacks in a state you have had a beach vacation to, drink.

8) When a shark attack victim talks about the attack, drink for 1 second per 5 stitches the victim received. If the victim is a girl or a young child, double the time.

9) Drink every time someone mentions punching a shark in the nose or eye to stop an attack.

10) Take three drinks for every limb any shark victim lost. If the attack was on their genitalia, the least you could do is drink the whole beer. If they died in the attack, pour one out for the homies.

11) Drink every time Andy Samberg is on TV.

12) Every time a person is referred to as a "shark expert," drink.

13) Drink every time the show references a new type of shark. If they mention that the shark it not known to attack humans (nurse shark) drink three times.

14) If a shark attacks a seal, finish your drink.

15) If you see anyone wearing chain mail and allowing sharks to bite them, take five sips for each time they are bitten.

16) Drink every time some one mentions Jaws, shows a clip from any of the Jaws movies, or if the Jaws theme music plays - and then say "we're gonna need a bigger boat".

17) Drink every time you see a subdued shark being poked, prodded, or given a tracking device on a boat.

Sounds as though you will be drinking the entire show!!!!

I'm a big fan of Shark Week, but I hate how its the "cool thing to do" haha! Last year let me down a little.

I can't wait to watch the Air Jaws documentaries again though. I can never get enough of those.

Ill be at the beach during Shark Week, it seems to happen every time I go...

This would be like power hour x10...

My buddy just got back from his honeymoon in Africa. While in Capetown they went cage scuba diving with Great White Sharks. They took some really cool underwater pictures. Seeing those pictures makes me ok with acting like a school girl when something brushes my leg in the ocean.

There isn’t much that completely freaks me out, but this is something that I can guarantee you will pretty much never happen for me lol.

This struck me as kind of funny, and remotely pertinent to this thread...Shark attacks: Is 'Jaws' back?

Since 1791, there have been 689 unprovoked attacks recorded in Australia...

"Unprovoked" shark attacks? Seriously, so are you telling me that there is such thing as a provoked shark attack?? Who the hell are these shark provokers??

Love shark week, but wouldn't make it past 5 or 10 minutes playing your shark week drinking game.
