I agree. One thing I liked at Bcorns, was good service. Nice wait staff.

B corns always willing to seat a large party. Great place to take the kids, food is solid bar food. For a smoking place, it is normally pretty breathable. Seems the staff always recognizes the regulars. Typically by name. Thats a nice touch. Downside is thier pricing. That's where longnecks may win some customers. Longnecks can be smoky and dark. Not a great place for kids. Food is also solid bar food.

Which location? The outside seating in Highland Heights is not great. Stuck out in front of the building. Lot of traffic from people entering and leaving. View of the parking lot. I'm not a fan of outside seating that does not offer some ambience. Longnecks out side seating is very similar, except that it is not in the patrons entrance or exit flow.

The outside seating is okay at the Florence location. Lakeside Park is the best outdoor patio for Barleycorn's.

 

I'm with Jim Schue...I don't see the infatuation with Barleycorn's & honestly I would prefer Applebee's/O'Charley's.

Applebees has gone so down hill in the last few years. At first I thought it was just the one location, but everyone I have been too lately has been just horriable. The food has not be good at all and the service even worse at multiple locations.

 

I have never liked Ocharleys, just nothing on their menu appeals to me.

Personally, I'm not infatuated with it. There are other places I'd go first for restaurant food. But I do like it for a place you can take a group out for a casual meal, where you can talk as much as you want and there is room to move around. Nice casual atmosphere without being too much like a college hangout.

Hey, hey, let's not go getting too awful crazy. It's not like I've advocated Applebee's or O'Charley's as some great place. I'm just saying that I think NoKy folks hold Barleycorn's at a much higher regard than it deserves.

 

If you want to read between the lines, feel free. Just make sure you're reading lines down by your ankles. Lots better choices in NoKy than those three lowlights.
