Ryle vs. Colerain on Thursday Night football 8/30/12

Featured Replies

Just heard that Ryle will be playing Colerain on Thursday, August 30th at Ryle. Game time is 7:05.

Every schedule I have seen says the game is on the 31st does this mean its a Fox Sports game?

Can Ryle stay within (4) TDs of Colerain?

Unless their passing game gets better I say no...

Well does Anyone know what Colrain brings to the table this year? My gut tells me that theyre probably stacked and will steamroll Ryle. But I have no idea, so let's go Ryle! I'm sure they'll rep KY football as well as anyone.

Credit to Ryle for playing Colerain, as the Cards will not only beat you, but beat you up.

Year in and year out they are probably the most physical team in the Greater Cincinnati area over the last 10 to 12 years. Not many schools are waiting in line to play Colerain for this reason.

I doubt Ryle can stay in the game, but hope they do.

I was thinking that Ryle ( and most 6A schools) would have much smaller enrollment than a typical Ohio school , and therefore a smaller talent pool. I just checked enrollments here :

SchoolDigger.com - School Rankings, Reviews and More - Public and Private Elementary, Middle, High Schools

and found that for 2010, Ryle had an enrollment pof about 1500 and Colerain 2000. I was under the impression that Ohio high schools had enrollments of about 4000 which would explain the how much more competitive Ohio schools were in general. Could this data be wrong?

I don't think they count Freshman.

I don't think they count Freshman.

We recently attened a camp at Oak Hills HS in W. Cincy and spoke to ma freshman that said they had 900 in their freshman class alone. This is why I am suspicious. Higher enrollments in Ohio High schools would explain a lot. Especially the competitiveness of public shool programs with private ones in Ohio. Something lacking here in KY.

Year end and year out Colerain has one of the lowest total enrollments of all Div I Ohio schools. They are close to being Div II but are secured as a powerhouse in DI. Football numbers are huge due to great feeder system and two middle schools feeding them.

Nice way to spend a Thursday night, hope Ryle holds their own.

Everyone seems to be patting Ryle on the back for playing this level of competition. No one seems to remember though, that it was this game last year that Travis Elliot was lost for the season, playing both sides of the ball. I know how badly SK was beat up playing Trinity last year. I don't think they could have played a game the following week if they had to. I think I would make sure I could at least play Highlands and Cov Cath even before tackling Ohio programs.

It is a Fox game. Just got the new today. Ryle Raider Football

Hope Ryle can play with them and make it a game this year, otherwise being a Fox game will be disappointing. Will be a bonus getting to see a Thursday game too with a local team. Good luck to Ryle in this game.

It all depends on Ryles run D. I work with a die hard Colerain guy and have attented a few games with him. It is run run run run run run run run run run run pass. The cards always have good team speed and a solid D. On a side note i hate the idea of a weeknight game. That has to make the next day at school pretty tough, I know i wouldnt be able to move around very well.
