Ryle vs. Colerain on Thursday Night football 8/30/12

Featured Replies

The week before Ryle plays Henry Clay on a Saturday night in Lexington. Colerain, on 5 days rest. Good Luck.

The only thing worse than getting crushed on Fox Sports by Colerain on a Thursday night is that they play St. Francis de Sales the following week and then they play SK the week after that. 3 very tough physical teams. That is good news for when SK plays Ryle! :D

Year end and year out Colerain has one of the lowest total enrollments of all Div I Ohio schools. They are close to being Div II but are secured as a powerhouse in DI. Football numbers are huge due to great feeder system and two middle schools feeding them.

A little off, but B for effort.

There are roughly 120 schools in Ohio Division I. Colerain is, and has been, in the top 40 for as long as I can remember. While that still puts the Cardinals a far cry from schools like Mason, St. Xavier and Oak Hills, they still find a way to compete annually.

This is an interesting move. Rather sly on Colerain's part as that gives them an extra day rest before traveling to St. Xavier for a week 3 contest.

Looking forward to the trip to the Bluegrass!

It all depends on Ryles run D. I work with a die hard Colerain guy and have attented a few games with him. It is run run run run run run run run run run run pass. The cards always have good team speed and a solid D. On a side note i hate the idea of a weeknight game. That has to make the next day at school pretty tough, I know i wouldnt be able to move around very well.

Thing about Colerain is it's not a traditional run game, instead the option. Defenses don't see this often, even at the high school level, so it's a tough prep. You can't just stack people in the box, you have to stick to assignments, or you're doomed. And, Colerain is often so athletic and good at the option, you can know what's coming and still give up a 60 yard touchdown.

I applauded Ryle earlier for playing Colerain, but doing so on five days rest is poor scheduling on their part. I'd have said no thanks to Fox Sports and played Friday. It won't affect the outcome, but could affect the margin.

I believe that it will go similar to their last meeting.

Colerain returns some pretty good players.

RB Chris Davis 5'10 180 Sr. a D1 recruit he has 3 offers

OL Dylan Wiesman 6'4 280 Sr.a UC commit

DB Dejuan Lang 5'10 180 Sr. a D1 recruit he has 2 offers

WR Travon Hudson 6'3 200 Jr.

Colerain also returns QB L.A. Ramsby and QB/FB Jackson Sorn both are very good.
