It is hard to throw blame at Westbrook. Take away the final 15 seconds, it was a tremendous scoring display, but it also showcased a major flaw with the Thunder. Westbrook is Allen Iverson with a Dwayne Wade physical skill set. Again, he single handily kept OKC in contention down to the final moments since Harden and Durant were so passive. But you also have to wonder if Westbrook's play is what keeps them timid? Remember, this is your PG, the player responsible for facilitating the ball and operating the offense. I also wonder if the inconsistent refereeing kept Durant timid last night?

It is going to suck if this series goes only 5 games. These are two evenly matched teams and 4-1 does not do it justice. Get this thing back to OKC. Though the number is deceiving, no team has ever come back from a 3-1 deficit in the finals. No Finals has gone to a game 7 when a team leads 3-1.

The situation kind of is what it is. There is no true definition of "clutch" or what it means to deliver with the game on the line. People associate it with making baskets, but obviously it is more than that. LeBron is as talented as a player ever in the NBA. But to fully dismiss the non-clutch moments is equally as blind as those who say he has never done anything in a big moment. Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of LeBron's 8 point effort and one 4th quarter shot attempt in a close game against Dallas when he went from "Chosen One" to "Frozen One" on the biggest stage in basketball. En route to averaging 16 points against a team they were superior than.

 

He made a big three last night with the shot clock running down. Then followed it up with an air ball from the wing. I have never thought it to be about being clutch, but rather James not playing to his strengths when the going gets tough. He has done that this season. But that will never erase, in my book, last season's Finals performance. I think that displayed James' true psyche and mentality to the point of humiliation. And deep down highlighted why I think he went to Miami. To find more comfort. He now seems to have found that.

Yeah now I'm hoping they close out the series because it would be just nit picking from now on if there is still as much hate as there has been in the past. To me James has shown two things during the Finals/Playoffs. 1.) That he can be clutch and can be counted on when the chips are stacked, and 2.) He likes to get his teammates involved and likes to make opportunities for them. He's not shying away from the big moment, he's just not a selfish player. If he can get someone else a better look then he is going to get them the ball instead of trying to just do everything himself. That's how he's always been thats how he always will be. Only thing different this go around is he has made himself more assertive and has tried to be a little more selfish.

As long as he keeps playing like he has, I don't think you will have to worry about hearing that anymore. Only way you will hear it still is if he decides to disappear the rest of the finals like he did last year and they end up losing the series. If he keeps playing like he is, then that won't happen and they will have a Championship Ring!

I think Westbrook has a head problem. It's too big. If you watch him on the bench during timeouts, he is sitting there looking everywhere but at the coach and what he is drawing up or talking about. The coach said it was a communication problem on the foul play. Everyone else knew about it but him. Also the last game at the end of the game when OKC had the ball out of bounds on the side and they tried to throw him the ball he wasn't even looking for it. Right before in the timeout there he was not paying attention again. Just my thoughts on him.

Harden has, over the course of this season, become one of my least favorite players in the league. I think Mettaworldidiot knocked something loose when Harden tried to go thug on the only real thug in the league.

 

Durant is only a decent defender when he's able to block/alter shots. He lacks the rearend to keep a heavier opponent from backing him down and seldom slides over in help. With that said, he got jobbed on a couple of foul calls last night. Even when the official realized he'd made a mistake and transferred the phantom fouls to his teammate.

 

The camera caught Westbrook's dad dropping the dreadful F after Russell made a tough drive and score, so it's no wonder Russell does the same thing every time the camera catches him afterward.

Still not a huge D-Wade fan, but coming out like this during the press conference and telling everyone that it was his homage to Dwayne Wayne earned some points in my ledger. Nothing better than the flip-up shades.

100% yes, he dominated the ball during those stretches (Rightfully so) and other guys rarely touched it. Easy to mess up the follow of an offense when that happens.
