June 7, 201214 yr I love LOVE having Scott Rolen as part of the organization. Obtaining him 3 years ago was one of the best moves the Reds had made in a LONG time. Still, as Manusco pointed out, it would apparently seem that a lot of people think when he returns he's going to be taking back his old spot at third and who knows what they'll do with Frazier. Who in the world would pull Frazier out of the lineup right now??? What do you folks think? Dreading Rolen’s Return | Redleg Nation

June 7, 201214 yr Tracy Jones was going off about this topic the other day (I think it was Tuesday) and I have to say I fully agree with him. Basically trying to keep Frazier from playing too well and getting too hot so that he wont' have to play Frazier over Rolen. He had a lot to say about it and it was very interesting in my opinion.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if he is being serious or not but he seemed very serious when talking about this.

I don't listen to him all the time, but lately I have quite a bit and I don't think I've ever heard him be more serious or frustrated with a topic. And he really seemed to know what he was talking about.
June 7, 201214 yr Using Rolen as a late inning defensive replacement (maybe he gets an at bat or 2 per game) plus the occasional start would be best for his health & stamina and best for the team. Pulling Frazier from the lineup would be a mistake IMO. (I too am glad Rolen is in the organization. A great guy. Excellent to have around the younger player. Props to him for his performance during the first 1/2 of 2010. He carried the team. Without Rolen there would not have been a trip to the playoffs.)

He just doesn't have the ability to go a whole season anymore, but he could be a good guy off the bench.
June 7, 201214 yr Author I'm not sure what his thoughts are on coaching and management, but I would love to see Scott Rolen as a position coach for the Reds next year. I think he's also SOLID future ballclub manager material...even if it's not for the Reds, I hope he goes for it some day. Just don't pull Frazier to put him back in the regular lineup.

That's all well and good but we all know that is not how Dumsty is going to use him.
