A quote for Anti-Gun advocates

I wasn't specifically refering to you, genius.

My bad. I should have known that since it was a reply to MY post, the reference to a "typical Clyde" post, and the use of the pronoun "you" in the response. Gets me every time.

You did skip the main point of the response though. I'm curious as to why the point about the reasoning for the the initial granting of gun rights is somehow "off topic."

I edited my reply during your response. Re-read post #28, second paragraph. I definitely didn't mention "you."

Bolded. Doesn't matter if people buy guns to prevent government oppression, or not. The fact is, the right was granted to bear arms, and the KEY arguement reinforces that right. I feel like the topic regarded gun control versus right to bear arms? Not why people buy weapons...

Agreed on the right being granted. If the part about the "why" wasn't important then I'm not sure why it was in there.

Personally, I am more afraid of people who own guns because they are afraid of the government than I am afraid the government will start military action against me. :D

I saw a Blackhawk over Trinity a few weeks ago. You may be too late!

People who buy Shotguns and handguns or even the quasi-assault rifles that are legal to protect themselves from "The Government" are even more delusional than they already seem. If the government wanted to harm it's citizens it will be with predator drones, tanks, attack helicopters, fighter jets, etc. Not much a clock 17 or benelli are going to do for you. I think some folks have seen the movie wolverine one too many times.

Agreed, I'm not hanging up old targets or pictures of all my guns out side of my house to make a criminal think twice about breaking into my home. I have my guns inside readily available so that they'll regret breaking in to my home if they choose to.

Sums up my stance as well. Only thing I'd add is I feel responsible for my wife and son and would want to be able to defend them if the need arose.

Your stance on the matter reminds me of a quote/term often incorrectly attributed to Lenin. I will see if anyone can guess what it is.

Distrust doesn't necessarily equal fear.

So you think a millitia of citizens might declare martial law where you live before the government will? :p

I still believe the gun control issue is more fear mongering. I have a hard time believing anything will change in gun control laws. Of course I don't own a gun so I admittedly don't keep up with gun control issues. I might one day but it's not near the top of my priority list. I'd rather have an inground pool.

And for the record, I hope everybody can have all the guns and ammo they desire. I've never believed that gun control would curb criminals and the notion of changing gun control laws seems silly to me but it doesn't affect me so if for whatever reason gun control laws changed it wouldn't affect me. I'd be shocked if the administration could get away with it and I hope they don't.

A. Agree.

2. Me either. Maybe if I lived in NKY or Cincinnati I'd feel differently.

D. No problem there. I keep hearing that the economy is down; we need folks out there spending big bucks on guns and ammo.

This is why having these elements of the military or other federal function operate these function inside the borders is a concern.

Roman legions disbanded at the Rubicon river upon returning from their battles in Gaul. This kept the power of the military outside of the republic. That was until Cesar 'crossed the Rubicon'. We should always be wary about today's Cesar's crossing the metaphorical Rubicon - whether it is via the Patriot Act, domestic military drones or with military grade hardware flying around internally.

Distrust doesn't necessarily equal fear.
