June 5, 201214 yr I believe the Bible to be true. All of it. Bottom line, if folks don't believe that God's word is truth, then we don't have equal grounds to discuss the topic. The key to a number of disagreements in the P&R forum, as well as society in general. People have beliefs about God & how He works, but it's where those beliefs come from that makes the difference. For some, they form their opinions based on how they think a just God would operate. For others, it's a mix of that & some Biblical teachings. For others, it's the Bible & the Bible alone--a category in which I myself would be placed. Since I believe in Scripture's divine inspiration, I take my cues from it. That will obviously put me at odds with others on a variety of issues, but it is what it is. As a result, I believe Jesus to be the way to God the Father. And as his follower, he has commissioned me to lead as many people as I can to him. What happens to individuals when they die--i.e. where they spend eternity--is not a matter for me, nor any other human being to decide. Humans are flawed, every last one of us, therefore we're not capable of making that determination/decision. It comes back to what TB&G said earlier...there are ways to disapprove of homosexuality (or any behavior the Bible deems immoral) without being downright hateful about it. The fact that people would actually applaud "fill-in-the-blank is going to hell" indicates a gross misunderstanding of Jesus Christ. When I was a kid, I remember hearing a preacher tell a story about two preachers who were both trying out for a vacant preaching position at the same church. Both preachers were asked to speak about hell & both were asked to preach from the same text. The preacher that did not get the job asked the chairman of the church board why it was that the other man was chosen. The chairman responded, "You preached on hell as though you were glad people were going there. The man we hired preached with a tear in his eye." That story has stuck with me for many, many years & has been a helpful reminder when that attitude of hate has welled up inside of me.

Easier said than done, though, for a great many of us.

This is from the post you made. These people more than likely are laughing because this cute little boy is attacking a lifestyle that is viewed as threatening. I do not see it as being any different then all of us snickering forty years ago if a seven year old yelled "All Commies are going to Hell."
