The only possible benefit to Highlands beating NCC big is to attract those few Ft. Thomas kids on the fence who love football and aren't sure if they want to go to Highlands or NCC. Big wins by Highlands might influence those kids to attend Highlands.

 

But for the record, I'm not in favor of playing NCC. Restating your thoughts: bigger fish to fry.

Why not try to schedule teams from Indy or Columbus, or further (they might have tried this is pure speculation)? Most teams these days play a semi national to national schedule if they want to win a "national championship".

Really, please name some public schools the size of Highlands (approx. 100 boys per grade) that play a national or semi-national (whatever that is) schedule. I am not aware of any much less "most teams". Also, why would they travel 2 or more hours to play teams that are of the similar or less quality than local teams less than an a half hour away? More expensive for the schools, more hardship for their fans with no additional benefit to the kids or the team.

 

Actually, I do wish they would play some of the large Cincinnati area public schools (e.g., Anderson, Mason, Sycamore, etc.) or good Cincinnati area teams of comparable school size but unfortunately the Ohio Harbin playoff system discourages the Ohio schools from playing that type of game (so I get why they don't want to take that chance as they have more to lose than just bragging rights of the game--although it also seems to me that a bubble or near playoff team would likewise have more to gain from a win against a Harbin Point cow like Highlands that might help them make the playoffs). So that leaves only the GCL South teams and for them it is a no brainer to play Highlands as their alternative game is to travel 2 to 4 hours every other year to play a game against other larger schools who in most years would be better than Highlands as they struggle to fill out a 10 game regular season schedule. So I don't see it so much as a "love affair with the GCL" (your words) so much as the only local games they can find against great competition against teams that struggle with a similar issue so that makes it a match of convenience that works for both sides.

Aren't you the same person that said that Dale Mueller attends FTJFL practices and recruits players out of there. You did say at one time that Dale came to one of your grandson's FTJFL practices correct. So if you are a CCH guy which we all know you are NCC guy, why is your grandson playing in Ft Thomas?

 

Let me tell you this.....

 

I have been back in to FTJFL now for 4 years and I coach the 7th & 8th grade Red team. We practice at DCM right after Dale finishes with Varsity practice. Never once has he ever stuck around to check out S-C-I-T's.....The only function he attends yearly is the 8th grade All Star game at the end of the year. That is a fact!!! Dale doesn't talk to players and refuses to talk to players. Out of district Parents that have kids playing in the FTJFL have approached Dale about their kid coming to Highlands the following year and he tells them to contact the Principal directly. He has said multiple times that the kid will find the school and the program, and not the program will find the kid. Period!!!!

NCC 3 Highlands 1, Baseball, Softball 7 and 1, Basketball 5 to 1, Volleyball 9 and 0 and on and on. No I don't dislike Highlands but all you people talk about is how good you are, remember you are not playing the game the kids are. Yes they have a great Football program. I think you are the hater.
