Was Kody Johnson from Pulaski County there?

 

There was 2-3 players that could not attend with football obligations such as Quick, PG from Franklin County, and Wittman from Lexington Catholic. After the first 6 guys the rest is up in the air. Some guys that were there have been playing other sports and were rusty, but watching them in the regular season gives you a chance to have more than a one day tryout, thats why the team is selected by a coach representative from all over the state, so they can give insight on other items such as what kind of team mate they are, etc. Without a doubt 3 of the core 6 are ranked in the top 50 in the nation for their class, so I guess all of those experts are wrong. 5 of them will play D-1 for sure, or have already been offered or signed. Kody Johnson was there also.

2013 is a good class in KY but Willis is only one ranked Top 50 with Hicks only other one even being considered for that status. The others are real nice players, but let's not overrate them on a national level. Some more of the top 6 jump off the charts this summer but they aren't there yet.

Are you insinuating that there aren't that many div.I kids on that roster?

I know of at least one kid that was on the courier journals Allstate honorable mention list that didn't get an invite. That is Gallatin countys Kristian Morgan. So I know there were more kids that were left out. Northern ky kids I'm thinking of in particular.

Heavens no. The previous post said there are 3 in the Top 50 NATIONALLY. I was pointing out that there is actually only one rated top 50 nationally. A large portion of this roster and even some that didn't make have D1 potential. The class is loaded with talent.

I would imagine that lots of kids statewide who make honorable mention don't get an invite, but if Morgan wasn't invited I wonder if any 8th region players were invited. Shae Goodlet?

Agreed. I think the core 6 is correct and after that there may be 1-3 more that I would expect to make it but with this class there will be some hurt feelings after the final 12 is announced.

I'm glad to see that Kody Johnson was there. I'd like to see Taylor Gover make the final 12 but he'll have his work cut out for him.

I would think that they are ranked in their class at their positions.

Out of the big 6 all will play D-1, I dont think you can say that about the others, when you are playing Indiana who has 12, pretty tough.

If the teams were just picked without tryouts people would still complain about the process so you may as well have tryouts. A kid like Taylor Gover may play his way into one of the final 6 spots. Nothing wrong with trying IMO.
