Out of the big 6 all will play D-1, I dont think you can say that about the others, when you are playing Indiana who has 12, pretty tough.

 

I think 5 of the 6 are D1. Quan Taylor is a heck of a high school player, but a little undersized IMO at his position to play D1 in college.

You are not kidding. But there are a lot of athletes as good as him who are 4 to 5 inches taller with a better basketball skill set - especially for mid to high D1. Maybe he would get a low D1 look but I doubt that. But in high school he makes a difference.

There was 2-3 players that could not attend with football obligations such as Quick, PG from Franklin County, and Wittman from Lexington Catholic. After the first 6 guys the rest is up in the air. Some guys that were there have been playing other sports and were rusty, but watching them in the regular season gives you a chance to have more than a one day tryout, thats why the team is selected by a coach representative from all over the state, so they can give insight on other items such as what kind of team mate they are, etc. Without a doubt 3 of the core 6 are ranked in the top 50 in the nation for their class, so I guess all of those experts are wrong. 5 of them will play D-1 for sure, or have already been offered or signed. Kody Johnson was there also.

Then don't tell the kids that it's based on a try out!! I think Hicks was the most talented kid there but his try out wasn't.

 

Hicks try out was not anything to brag about. I have seen him play a few times last season, and he did not live up to the hype. I think some kids may be resting on their laurels. His effort and drive arent there from what Ive seen the past season. Also, his height is exaggerated. When Ive seen him play, he is listed at 6-5 or 6-4....he is MAYBE 6'2" in reality. Yes, he is talented, but not as much as others there.

Hicks wasn't even the best player on his team of 6!! Hawkins,Mcreynolds,Troutman didn't do anything that should have got them on the team.. I guess I was watching for all around game just not lets see who shoots the most shots...Tre Rakes should have been a core 6 player along with Holland,Willis,Jackson and Taylor. I am happy for all that made it but some had help with the coach's that selected the teams...

 

Wasnt the Madison Central coach part of the tryout process? I think he was coaching the Derek Willis team during the scrimmages. I just hope the HS teams that had a ton of players selected were genuinely the best players.

Hard to shine as the 3rd or even 4th option on a team that had Mr. Basketball on it and won state as well. We can revisit how good Hicks is next year at this time. I'm down for that.
