Yes, in 1992 Coach Duffy brought up freshman Matt Huddleston to kick varsity. He did a nice job nailing overtime field goals to beat Newport & Newport Catholic that season. Both games were played at Newport Stadium.

That was the 1991 season and Matt Huddleston was a soph. He may have dressed for a couple of varsity games the season before though.

You are correct on the '91 season. I always mix up the football season yr with the graduation yr of the senior class. I am pretty sure he was kicking varsity as a frosh at some point.

You are correct. It is against the competitive nature of people. From players, coaches and parents. But the way the league is ran, very successful that I might add, is to break the kids from Ft Thomas into zones as to where they live. Then they add the surrounding communities players into the mix as evenly as possible and go from there. There are adjustments that the league makes to make sure each and every team is as even as possible. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But the teams are not all star teams, so for them to compete in the NKYFBL is not an option with they way they do it. Ukfan is just stirring it up again and really doesn't understand the process. A little over his head I guess.

 

Oh I'm pretty sure at one point, the league ventured into the NKYJFL for a few years, and were very successful at it. But those were all star teams form Ft Thomas. So yeah, whatever, it has been beaten to death, mostly because people from the outside just don't get it.

Does FTJFL start kids in the first grade? I know Boone leagues do and I believe NKYFL does as well. I believe this to be too early as we see lots of kids quitting football between grades 8 - 10.

I'm late to the party but I see Highlands opens with Boyle on 8.17. I thought it was 8.24. That works better for me. Looking forward to it and hoping for low heat.

South Kenton does my son starts and he just turned 6 a couple months ago. Only thing he cares about is football. He don't for practice to much but loves game days!

Make sure he knows books are first. Spelling and grammar will get him a long way.
