This team is going to struggle to score runs, you take them when you can get them. Lohse being on the mound is another reason to bunt. He's not the same crappy pitcher he was with the Reds.
April 11, 201214 yr It's not a guarantee he scores after that. Pretty easy way to kill rallies by doing that. Yeah because one hit makes a rally...You bunt there and your chances of scoring increase 10 fold.

I believe they were 3rd in the NL in runs scored last year with the same team so not sure why you assume they will struggle to score runs.

That's the most deceiving stat in baseball.....The Reds last year would routinely go 3-4 games where they scored 0-3 runs, then put up 10 the next game to average it out.
April 11, 201214 yr I say it's a coin flip on the bunt. There's easily understood rationales from both sides. I personally like not bunting there, though. Heisey's got to get his stroke back before that becomes an unquestionable move, also.

If I remember correctly, Heisey did try to lay one on the first pitch, but they called it foul (looked like it hit his foot). I was jokingly saying we should bunt him to third, then squeeze him in haha!

I am not sure how he does it with the stuff he has but then again, Jamie Moyer is still pitching. Here is why I wouldn't have bunted there. If you bunt Heisey and he succeeds, you give up an out and move further down your lineup. Stubbs up next and he is not a contact hitter by any stretch. If Stubbs doesn't score the run, Mesoraco is up and they can easily pitch around him to get to the pitcher. So basically your choice is this: 1. Give up the out and hope for Stubbs to make contact in a way that will score the run. 2. Don't bunt and give 2 hitters, perhaps 3 if they pitch to Mesoraco, the chance to get a hit to score the run.
