White flags all around!!! How does prestiges NCC land a small but stud QB from AZ? Although it may be odd that a FB player from another state (AZ being quite a distance away), what are the odds of him falling into the laps of the GREAT NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC FOOTBALL POWER HOUSE?!!! They have been such A POWER SINCE 2000 or so and there was no sign of slowing down on all of thier state championships; now there is definitely no sign those championship trophies will stop rolling in any time soon. NewCath football powerhouse since 2000!!!

That is a 2010 highlight reel so I will assume he is better. Nothing on that film would have me worried if I were Josh Cain. In fact, his arm strength looked a little suspect. But like I said, the film is from 2010. If I had to make a prediction off that, I would say he never plays QB for NCC.

I liked the music....looks like he has a lot of moxy and steps up in the pocket nicely.

Some nice highlights, but for the love of God, make the noise stop. Why do people put their video clips to such crapy noise. I did mute the remainder after I couldn't take it anymore.

Noise. Not really. The first song was by a guy name Fabolous. It was decent song when it was out. Really slick wordplay in the song by the artist, if you know what he is saying. Having said that, I turned it off after the first minute. As much as I like hip/hop, I don't like hearing any music while watching a highlight tape of any kind.

 

But the transfer looks to be average. That wasn't good competiton he faced. He looks 5'7. Broke his collarbone in week 3 the video says. Probably lost his spot after the injury to a kid that was younger and as good or better. That "you don't lose a position to injury" doesn't apply in high school, especially after such a serious injury. Just throwing stuff against the wall. I do find it interesting that you used certain words in your thread heading that suggests that there were many schools that were recruiting this kid for his services.. You insinuate that this kid is a 3 or 4 star athlete making a college decision and other schools in the region lost out on his athletic talents. :confused:

As we all know ,KY high schools cant recruit kids for athletics so I am not sure what is so special about this announcement.

Either way, I know from experience that NewCath is not about athletics but for the Catholic education and this kid will enjoy his short time on the hill.

I agree with VOR on this young man. I wasn't going to say anything because I thought posters weren't allowed to say negative things about kids on here. But I too think he lacks some big time skills. But like VOR said, it's from 2 years ago. I'm sure he has improved a lot since then. Good luck to this young man.

yeah this kid transfered to Newcath based on catholic education. He flew over a thousand schools better qualified.

Geeez. All this talk about this video so I couldnt resist.

 

I am sure this kid is much stronger now then in this video. His feet and his shoulders are quick and he does well throwing the ball outside the tackles for obvious reasons.

He does struggle a bit in drop back because of his height, he throws a quick floater which he gets away with in the thin Az air but that baby becomes pick city on a muggy Aug nite down in the flood zone in Newport, KY.

He will have to adjust but he seems to have nice skills which will work nicely for the Breds.

I am sure Eddie will find a spot on the field for this kid. Dont know if its QB or not but somewhere.

An 8th grade girl sharing the same last name is to start at HMS after spring break.

From a sportswriter that covered high school sports back in AZ:

 

He was one of the better quarterbacks in the area last year. Should have a pretty good senior season. Not elite, but a good player.

I did not see him struggle one time to throw the ball in the middle of the field. There was only two plays where either his primary or secondary receiver was even in the middle of the field, he completed both passes. Arm strength looked just okay to me as well. I like how he puts touch on it when he should and lets it rip when he should. Also, looking at the passing offense it seems they ran a lot of concepts that attacked the edges of the defense and he made the correct reads in the drop back game. In the quick game, he made quick decisive decisions and got rid of the ball fairly quick.

 

Not seeing any game film other than this highlight. I bet they are a big zone read team coupled with the occasional wing-t, power I with a very dangerous RB and that is why the middle of the defense is stacked so much against it. I feel this is why the passing offense attacks the outside edges putting the OLB's in a run/pass conflict. Then the passing concepts they are running seemed to be designed to read the reaction of the OLB, whatever he does is wrong type thing.

 

When I see him, he reminds me of Chad Lawrence when he was a sophmore.

 

 

Also, he looks pretty good at the bootleg series that NCC runs out of their near/far sets!!
