  1. The reason I'd like to know is that I know of a kid who wants to continue on his career in football and it is a good opportunity to showcase his game but he also plays basketball and does that violate any KHSAA rules concerning seasons?
  2. Can someone enlighten me about the 1st Annual Battle of the Border Bowl scheduled for January 12, 2008? I heard that they are putting together 2 teams, one from KY and the other TN to highlight E.KY & E.TN senior talent. The game is scheduled for the U. of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg. If this is true why are they playing in January and what constitutes a players eligibility to play?
  3. :ylsuper:The difference in this one will be a Sophomore QB- Chris Muse will have a big night. He's a winner and so will PC be Friday.:ylsuper:
  4. It is what it is unless you just take the top 2 teams because of the number of schools. Shorten the season by a week and let the top two play. That makes it a district championship game, then a regional championship, sectional champion, then state championship! Every game is good. It doesn't help a 10-0 team to match up on a 0-10. The outcome will be what it is and the potential for someone being injured after playing in frustration increases. Remember it's all about the BUCKS for KHSAA and the schools with all of these games.:irked:
  5. Garner-Webb Over UK, Appalachian State Over Michigan &............. CARROLL Over DAYTON
  6. Cawood is a hard hitting team that is an equal to Cumberland IMO
  7. I see a close game early and maybe even Taylor taking an early lead but the Jumpers winning by 14.
  8. Glad to hear of the renovation. I saw a playoff game there where a receiver hit that corner and fell on his back with his feet coming out from under him. He didn't get hurt but I could see a knee injury in the works on a fade. There wasn't any turf covering the track either back then. Happy to hear of the improvements....... Nevermind.
  9. McCreary wins by forfeit when birth certificates are checked. Just Kidding. Won't be close but hang in there McCreary. What a way to start your playoff experience.
  10. Actually I like the way it is now except for the four teams making the playoffs. Keep it at the top 2 and let them square off at district end and this would eliminate one week of playoffs keeping the games to 14 games for state.:ylsuper:
  11. Let's have a nine week season, create an all-star team from each district, have one playoff like basketball and play St. X and Trinity heads up. The nine week season will allow for 2 bye weeks so the all-star teams can prep for the match up with the Louisville bunch. Of course Highlands can opt out and keep their team intact. I think this is the equalizer everyone has been looking for. The players and coaches pick the guys they want to play and coach with and then there is only 1 STATE Champion. Any questions?:jump:
  12. Somebody tell me, why doesn't Newport Catholic get their own field? It's not that difficult with the money they have. Besides the Newport field is horrible by the end of the season and the track they have running THROUGH the end zone is pathetic when you are wearing cleats. If they don't get their own field then maybe Newport's PUBLIC field should be upgraded by both schools (maybe turf). Just a thought, not to mention separation of church and state:cool: Didn't mean to start a public/private issue. It's not about that but if you've seen a game on that field you know what I'm saying. Most of the time there is a late season playoff game there and it diminishes the quality of the games.
  13. Looks like- Russell vs. Somerset Anybody, who cares? The east is a beast in 3A. 6 or 7 of the top 10 are in the east I believe. OK Central is a top team but the tough road to the top will prepare the team that wins it all.
  14. Mercer vs. Pulaski, Somerset Vs. Belfry, SW at either game to watch their reactions:lol:
  15. I shouldn't have had it but that Penn Station Sub was this long and ohhhhh the hot peppers.
  16. Sounds like their daddies process all of the milk from the other towns where their boys are out in the fields or doing chores in the barns. Is there anyone else in Western Kansas that plays football? Nobaody can be that dominating without their being NO COMPETITION!!
  17. The only team that I know of that played them is Somerset in their district. After talking to some Jumper fans, they didn't have much against Somerset. If I recall SHS had them down by 48-0 at halftime or something like that and their starters came out before the half. They ran the ball OK against the JV team in the 2nd half with a running clock.
  18. Absolutely the best quote I've seen on BGP! Kudos to you because every school feels that way about their seniors. Win or lose, it is an emotional game from here on out. No one knows of the dedication, sweat and tears that come from this level of competition but the players and their friends and family. Football is a special game, like my son says..... "it's the closest thing to going to war with your buddies by your side, you have to rely on everyone working together".
  19. I heard taht Somerset is over 600 wins but I don't know by how many. Where would they be on the list and where do you find the numbers? Where is this list posted?
  20. Getting a little "testy" Jumper Dad? Could it be the lack of respect the Mountain boys are giving the Jumpers in the playoff chase? Belfry has got to be a great team and will be the favorite for the title, but Somerset showed it could put points on the board against a good Corbin team. You never know?:bunny:
  21. SW lost alot and it has been a tough year for them. Good luck to the Scalpers though.
