  2. MT, how would you stop Somerset in your opinion? Where are the strengths and weaknesses?
  3. I agree, but there will be a rise during and after this year. Cole Draughn was a show on his own and with Tyler Sexton as his main target it was easy to see how much fun they were to watch. The talent level is on the rise and people will show more interest with success. Coach Hines has made some tough decisions over the past two years and his payoff will come by next year at the latest. The Maroons will be a tough team to handle but are they ready to be consistent winners? Jury is out on that one. My guess with their schedule they are a 5-5 team at best this year.....but watch out! I hope I'm wrong and they rise to the top.
  4. Any Maroons out there care to wage in because I feel like the lone fan out here in BG land? C'mon gang you can let them know where your heart is!
  5. By the way, I agree with you about the N. Laurel coaches. They were fired up and had the kids in the game all night and were teaching every chance they could. Fine staff IMHO.:thumb:
  6. Just wanted your opinion on some of the Somerset kids other than Cole.
  7. Can't wait until all four teams square it up. I can hear the popping of the pads right now. Go Maroons!!
  8. Ok, field day may have been a little strong but Muse is very mobile and an accuarte passer. He will pick his receivers wisely and move the football very well against the Jumpers' secondary. Cobb doesn't like to blitz or even pressure the QB from what I heard and saw Friday and you can't let Muse have that time to throw. I stand by my statement that they will have a good night offensively against the Purple team. With a little luck and some key plays/turnovers, the Maroons will be in the win column @ Ray Corell. Just my opinion.
  9. Pulaski has had 2 down years and has something to prove. They are better than most people would think. The pressure is not on them because of previous low expectations and everyone thinking Somerset should run away with the game. This is a cross-town rival game and alot of pride at stake. You're going to be surprised Jumpers.
  10. The kid Coomer, is he #8? At these scrimmages, you don't know who they are. I think #8 was a nice player as well with good hands. He seemed to compliment Cole real well. The two big running backs for Somerset also were impressive, hard runners. I still think PC's line will contain Somerset and Muse will have a field day on the secondary. It should be a high scoring game when they meet in two weeks.
  11. I don't know about "by far". Both Somerset & PC would give SW a great game and I'm not sure if either or both wouldn't beat SW. PC has grown up alot and Somerset retained almost of its skilled players from what I can tell.
  12. I hope that my thread doesn't get things going in the wrong direction. I believe that all three teams have something special about them. Pulaski's youth and experience from their younger kids will pay dividends in the future, maybe the near future. Southwestern has built a strong program where they reload every year. Somerset has a well balanced team, not just a single receiver and playmaker. If I was to guess right now who would be best, I'd give a very slight nod to Somerset with an equal footing to Southwestern. Pulaski County is right on their heels however and this year above others it appears that all three teams are closely balanced to each other.
  13. Thanks for the update. Number 11 looked taller than 6'2 or 3, from where I was. Unless Somerset is a short team, he looked like the tallest player on the team (not that it matters unless a kid wants to go to the next level). Either way, his speed will cause PC trouble on the line unless they can contain him.
  14. Give me a break on that score won't you? While Somerset is a good team, are they that much better? PC has really good size up front and has alot of speed in the skill positions. I also think the edge at QB goes to PC. I also believe that the edge mentally goes to PC because the pressure is not on them to win. At the scrimmage in N. Laurel, Somerset's O-line couldn't pick up the blitz well and you know that they will see a ton of it at the Ray Correll.
  15. Are you talking about the scrimmage last Friday? Somerset was the clear Varsity winner in this one. As much as I wish they were down, they looked good on both sides. It was a 2 touchdown to none score when they played live. In a real game, I think Somerset would be a 3 TD favorite if played right now. Pulaski will have to work hard (and they are) to go head to head with Somerset in 2 weeks.
  16. Is he a junior/senior? Looks pretty tall as well? Do you know much about him? I think he had a pretty good night and was in the backfield alot causing some problems for the Jags.
  17. Three pretty good schools with lots of talent, but who reigns supreme?
  18. Seems like everyone is overlooking the Maroons. Hines will be ready and so will Winston Hines against Cole. My prediction is that PC will "upset" the Jumpers who will come in overconfident...... PC 28-SHS 20. Look for QB Muse to have a big night against a very suspect Jumper Defense.
  19. I saw a kid from Somerset on D that impressed me. He was pretty quick and a good sized player with a high motor. Since we're up against the Jumpers at the Correll Bowl, he looks pretty good on the D-Line. What's his story. Haven't seen Somerset in a couple of years and worked in London Friday night so I thought I'd peek at our opponent. Never heard of him but he hits hard. Mountain Thunder you were there, what do you think?
